Adventure Squadron 8 : Chronicle: The search for the staff, Ohla sees a face from the past and the room of the Phase spider

Ohla peers through door that drider came through. The room is huge, more than 60 feet tall to, narrow but long. Unka hears noise and a knock and steps. She goes to check it out. Bola silently follows. He hides behind the column. Unka sees a torch in the corner and a pile of sand. Unka plays with the torch and does a search for secret doors. Bola comes to help. Bola looks at the sand. Nieve and Dorian come over by Unka. Dorian detects that the torch turns. Nieve casts detect magic, nothing is detected on sconce and torch. Dorian does a search and discovers a door. Ohla put a drider body in the door before joining the others by the torch. Dorian opens a door. A fallen-in hallway with a path through it is seen. Dorian inches in. Dorian does a super hide and searches ground and listens. He sees footsteps. Dorian hears a super faint voice. Path goes down and Dorian feels like he's walking on thatch and then more crap. Some areas are propped up. He yells back, "It looks safe." Dorian proceeds in. Dorian finds a trap door and another area he could crawl in above. Listens at the trap door. Everyone follows Dorian. Bola rigs the door we went through so we can hear if we are being followed. There is a light through the trap door. Nieve comes to help cuz she can see in the dark. Dorian can sort of hear people talking common and hears someone say, "They're here?" and the voices quiet. A door shuts and things get quiet. Nieve peeks in the trap door. Unka has an amulet, but we tell her shhhh!!!. (Unka would like to add to this that nobody gives a damn about her awesome, beautiful, lovely, and I'm sure powerful amulets-punks) Dorian looks too. They see a 30X20 room with a table and chairs. The table has cards and a put out torch. 2 lit torches and a rug are also in the room with a bronze door.

The elf chick (Nieve, actually a halfling), and the cool thief guy (Dorian) rope down into the room below this passage we're in. Why is the only guy who can't see in the dark leading the way? 'Cause he's got mad listen skills and shit, (30m a listen check!) that's why! Nieve puts a ladder into play so we can all descend nice and smooth. Before I,Ohla, go down, I chin up to check the other passage which I discovered. They SAY they knew about it, but I think I'm Columbus and shit. Dorian is shushing us while listening at the door while Unka is doing card tricks with a deck she found. I lose the 1st hand to Unka but win the 2nd round from Bola and Unka. Bling, Bling!! Dorian keeps shushing us when Unka decides to begin combat. We see a drow with that cleric dude's staff. Ohla bangs the 1st bad and then Bola strikes in but then Drow-boy casts LIGHTNING BOLT for 250! A bird attacks for cool visuals but no real effect... Stu cromps it... UNKA POWER ATTACKS THAT CREEP with a 32. The bad on me misses twice... Bola and Stu get hit.

Ohla takes out the 1st bad guy... Bola hits the drow and then gets hit from the drow by MM... The bird does little... Stu goes after duder... Unka turns the drow into nothing... and then whomps another guy... Ohla knocks another down and moves to flank... Bola kicks a little ass... Dorian puts a little smackdown on the bad... The Bird don't do nothin' ... Stu flanks poorly... Unka knocks over another guy then everyone descends on the booty for awhile. ((UNKA again would like to add that she found another awesome, cool, flashy, beautiful spider amulet that the drow with lightning had on, but again, no one cares because everyone sucks and is jealous of Unka's beautiful treasure -punks) Ohla goes deep into thought while Nieve steals magic from the group... Ohla explains the drow's family dynamic... the party sleeps and suddenly Dorian notices the Staff of Midnight is being moved... he swings into action and calls alarm and Nieve dispels the invisible, gaseous formed half-drow Arastnok! Unka starts smackin' him for little effects. Bola does not stun him... Stu's sword doesn't go into effect and he misses... Ohla pulls a muscle on his 1st role but uses his left hand to throw another axe for 7 pts of D. ..Dorian rolls a 1 on his attack but Phil reminds Ben that he still has an Action Dice from his backstory so instead of D hitting himself in the head, he grabs onto the Staff of Midnight Rasta is trying to steal and, Chris points to Phil and sez "You get points!"... But Rasta breaks loose... Nieve steals the staff back... Bola tries to stun the bad, who saves (!) and then vanishes... Ohla volunteers for 1st watch and suggests whoever is on watch to simply hols onto the staff, which Ben sez, "that's actually a good idea!" We heal up some. Rest and Wake up.

We are woken up when Stu kicks us! Someone is pulling the hatch open. Stu jumps up, wonderfully grabbing the hatch and confronts a person. Leopard skinned Ohla climbs up the ladder. Ohla is talking with the new guy. Stu talks to him Momar has joined the party as a tracker.

We try to go down the hall. It leads out into a dead end, so we back up to the other way we could have gone. Bola scouts ahead and finds a door. Stu finds a trap and attempts to disable the dart trap. At first he fails and then succeeds. We go into the room and he finds and disables another trap.

We find a book, "Construction of the Temple of Set" on the table. Upstairs there is a chest and a nest of gnomishness. We go through the dooor.

Stu and Dorian go thru and they spot something coming at them. It's a giant striped spider! It bites Dorian and he shrugs off CON damage. Dorian tries to tumble away, but it bitten again and loses 6 CON! He suddenly looks like Crispen Glover. The spider disappears! NO he doesn't! Momar rushes in and lays into the critter with a long sword and hand axe. Momar is bitten, but shrugs off any poison effects. Spider Disappears! Nieve dashes over to aid Dorian. Stu sprinkles dust on himself and disappears. The party mills about, not sure what to do with no targets. Spider pops in and misses a swipe at Dorian. Everyone readies to splatter the spider. Sppider popes in, and bites Dorian and...is hit with Ohla's Magic Missile (10), Bola 's Ring of the Ram (12), Nieve's Rod O'Withering (0), Momar Double crit (36). SPIDER EXPLODES! Momar gets a raise.
