Sun Systems
The SunFire V210 and V240 share the same motherboard.
The v240 has a taller case which holds more SCSI drives,
as well as a PCI riser to accept 3x PCI cards.

Part numbers and corresponding manufacturer numbers
Sun makes some really nice external disk boxes and chassis.
They are usable for anything that needs SCSI or FC storage.
They are referred to as Multi-Packs. There are 12-bay and 6-bay models.
- MultiPack refers to a SCSI Chassis
- MultiPack-FC refers to a FC Chassis
- There are both 12 and 6 bay multi-packs.
- The 12 bay MultiPacks will hold 12 1" devices.
I think you can use reduced count the 12 bay if you have
the larger 1.6" drive format.
- The 6 bay MultiPacks will hold 6 1" or 1.6" devices.
- There are also some single bay UniPack for individual drives.
- Sun UltraSCSI StorEDGE 711 MultiPack (6 or 12 disk model)
- 12 disk 540-4689 (don't know if is MP or MP+disks)
- MultiPacks use the standard Sun SPUD bracket for drives (and quick release).
-- both SCSI and FC, and in most Sun systems of this generation!
- The SPUD brackets need special low-profile Torx head screws to work
properly in the slides -- otherwise things catch and don't work
well.
- Sun SPUD spud part number is 540-3024-01. 1" SPUD
- 540-4486 MultiPack-FC 6-Slot FC-AL Backplane (backplane, not chassis)
- Part Numbers on Devices ???? Or is this just some vendor??
- SG- StorEDGE device
- XDSK0?0C SCSI (X) Disc (DSK) chassis 0n0 -- n == # drives C==SCSI?
- XFDSK0?0E FC (XF) same as SCSI E==FC?
- -##G -- Space chassis ships with
- By comparing the 0?0 and -##G numbers you can figure out the
drive capacity in the box.
- Fibre Channel 6 Bay StorEDGE SG-XFDSK020E-72G
-- StorEDGE FC Disk Bay with 2 36 GB disks -> 72G total.
as shipped)
- SCSI Bay StorEDGE SG-XDSK060C-218G
-- StorEDGE SCSI Disk Bay with 6 36 GB disks -> 218G total.
- The SCSI bays are tan, the FC bays are blue.
- MultiPack Users Guide
- MultiPack-FC User's Guide
- MultiPack Data Sheet (SCSI + FC)
- The SCSI MultiPacks have SCA connectors and provide power, data, and
addressing information in the box.
each MultiPack has a setting to control where
the SCSI addresses in that MultiPack start.
I think it is 1-6 and 9-14.
- The SCSI MultiPacks have auto-termination features on them.
- Sun StorEdge 6140 have FC interface, take SATA disk drives.
- Sun StorEdge A5200 takes SPUD FC drives.
- Sun StorEdge Product Overview -- Really Useful!
The country kits include appropriate keyboard for the
region, mouse, and 2 nice power cords.

- 320-1367 Sun Type 7 USB Keyboard -- Unix Layout
- 371-0788 Sun Type 7 USB Mouse
- 565-1831 Sun Type 7 USB Keyboard -- PC-101 & Mouse (Country Kit)
