Yogurt Covered Things

I'm sure everyone has been in the grocery store snack aisle and seen the yogurt-covered snack foods. This week, for no good reason at all, I'm going to make a list of yogurt things that are awesome, things that are yogurt covered but shouldn't be, and things that aren't yoguer covered, but ought to be.

Date Yogurt-covered item The word
Sunday May 16, 1999 Yogurt covered peanuts Delicious!

Yogurt covered peanuts are soooo good. I daren't buy them because I always just eat them all right away. Unfortunately they have an awful lot of fat, but mmmmmm, better than newtons even.

Monday May 17, 1999 Yogurt covered raisins Delicious!

Yogurt covered raisins are so very tasty. They aren't as good as yogurt covered peanuts, but they have less fat, and it's almost possible to stop eating them before the bag is empty. I'm eating some right now - yummm. They usually cost the same as yogurt covered peanuts, or occasionally less.

Tuesday May 18, 1999 Yogurt covered pretzels Bleagh!

Whose great idea was it to put yogurt on pretzels!!? They are inedible. I do like both yogurt and pretzels but I really don't think that they were meant to be combined into a snack food. It's like eating yogurt covered salitines or yogurt covered stale bread. It sucks.

Wednesday May 19, 1999 Yogurt covered fun-fruits Yum

Fun-fruits were those chewy candies that were made by one of those fruit-roll-up companies. I remember that at some point they started covering them with yogurt, and I thought they tasted pretty good.

Thursday May 20, 1999 Yogurt covered almonds Outstanding!

Yogurt covered almonds are actually even better than peanuts. They are really tasty. Of course they are more expensive than yogurt covered peanuts, but hey, what were you going to do with all that money anyhow?

Friday May 20, 1999 Yogurt covered pop tarts Hmmmm

This is a suggestion, of course. As far as I know the yogurt-covered pop-tart remains an uninstantiated concept. I'm having trouble deciding if they would be tasty or not. I think it would depend on what kind of pop-tart it was. A cherry poptart would go well with yogurt, but not a chocolate one. In general any frosted pop-tart wouldn't go with yogurt, but the un-frosted fruit flavors would be good.

Yogurt-covered sugar lumps Yum

Now there's something I could eat until I got sick (which wouldn't take too long). Sugar lumps are sweet and crunchy, perfect for covering with yogurt.

Saturday May 21, 1999 Yogurt covered bread Yuk!

Yogurt covered bread would suck. For something to be yogurt-coverable it has to be either crunchy like a nut or chewy like a rasin or extremely sweet like a pop-tart or a lump of sugar. Bread is neither.

Yogurt covered bagels Blech!

Ok, so bagels are chewy and delicious, but they're too big, for one thing, and not the right taste to go with yogurt. There are different types of bagels, and egg or poppyseed bagels would be candidates, but think about it - Yuk!
