Song #4 The Muse
MP3 Here 6.5Mb Download (sorry for the size)

Ok here is the 4th song. It is my first ever 7 minute song.. (in retrospect I should have played it faster) It's for my fellow FAWMers. I was feeling the pain of not being able to come up with something and so I wrote this.

Please forgive my voice! The sinus infection and cold has gotten worse and I can't sing worth crap. (I mean more than usual)

This was another 1 take wonder, so forgive the usual glitches, voice cracks, timing issues. The only thing that isn't screwed up is the drum track, which came out of a loop program. This is really just the bed of the song, leaving lots of room for refinement and more instruments, etc..

The Muse

She is nowhere near
The thought spins round and round
The music’s not so clear
When your feet are on the ground

She dances past my head
A flirt for all her charms
I’m lying on my bed
And wishing for her arms

(chorus)
A fountain flows with water
When the pressure is online
But I’ve got a report to write
And I haven’t got the time

She’s blowing kisses now
A feather touch and gone
Like moving from the shade
Into noon-day sun

She smiles so sweet and low
And quickly passes by
And when I look away
She fills my inner eye

I run with the herd
Complain about the drive
Make the business strong again
Busy in the hive

She’s abandoned me
For a worthy friend
I’m too tired to care
How it’s going to end

pardon the french, but this one is *vachement* awesome, eric! we finally get a piano song in the FAWM archives... also: the vocals were a little low in the mix (but hey, it's a demo and you have a sinus infection), but in future re-workings of this i can hear you adding some harmony.

Thank you, Burr. I felt pretty good about this one, except the vocals.

I hear harmony vocals too, and a light guitar with a bunch of reverb in certain spots, that arpeggiates the main chords or something like that. The possibilities are endless.

Eric [07:37AM CST 16-Feb-2004]

This is a sweet tune Eric...your voice has this longing in it, and this is one depressing sounding tune. I hear some weird echo/reverd delay things in my head just sort of "playing" in the background...this is nice ambience.
