CS202 Option
Students in CS202 use a graphical programming environment called Snap (which is an extended version of Scratch) to explore algorithms without the worry of language syntax. With Snap!, you can develop sophisticated programs while you learn the fundamentals of programming.
There are a few key points about this option:
- You'll need to attend CS202 lectures on Tues Thurs 4-5:15pm in 1221 CS.
- CS202 is a 3 credit course like CS302 so that your credit load will not change.
- CS202 does NOT satisfy the the same degree requirements as CS302.
- If you are required to take CS302, you'll still need to take it again, but we anticipate that CS302 will be easier after successfully completing CS202.
See here for more information about CS202.
If you are interested in switching, follow these steps:
- Inform your instructor as soon as possible, but no later than week 7.
- Send an email with your name and UW ID number, and indicate you're considering the option to switch to CS202. We won't require you to switch until you've made your decision, and you'll have through week 8 to do so.
- Start attending CS202 by the start of week 7 at the latest.
- Please continue to attend CS302 while you make your decision.
- Make the switch.
- If you decide to switch to CS202, inform your instructor. We'll then authorize you for enrollment in CS202, which will enable you to register late. If you decide NOT to switch, just continue to attend CS302.
- Contact the CS202 Instructor. To ensure that you are not penalized with a poor CS202 grade resulting from the late switch, you must contact the instructor as soon as possible to determine what you need to do to catch up. See here for the instructor's information.
Note, we'll allow switching through week 8 of the semester.
