Preface
In this tutorial, you will simulate your 4-1 mux. QuickSim allows
you to simulate the switching characteristics of your circuit. You
will also want to simulate your circuit using accusim to observe the behavior
of your circuit more acturately.
Creating a QuickSim ViewPoint
-
Well in typical Mentor fashion, there are multiple ways to create a QuickSim
ViewPoint. One way, the more time consuming way, is using the GUI
interface. If you would like to do it this way follow these
instructions.
-
The quicker way is to simply move into your ../tutorial/schematic
directory. Enter the line % adk_dve mux41 This will
create a bunch of directories and design viewpoints including the ami05
file under your mux41 directory.
Simulating the 4-1 Mux using QuickSim II
-
To invoke QuickSim II move into your ../tutorial/schematic directory
and enter % quicksim mux41/ami05
-
Select the Open Sheet button. A small window displaying your
mux41 desing should appear.
-
Select all the inputs and the output of your schematic. Hit the Trace
Button. Here is what your screen should
look like.
-
Now download the following force file q_mux41.force
Save it in ../tutorials/f_files.
-
Go to Setup -> Force -> From File and load the q_mux41.force
file.
-
Observe the output trace and convince yourself that your results are correct.
Now that we are convienced that our circuit logically behaves correct,
we are ready to layout our circuit in the
next tutorial.
