Interpreting Scantron Error Reports

 

CS302 Exams are given as all multiple choice.  This ensures consistent scoring and quick results.  Each student that takes an exam gets an error report from Testing & Evaluation. 

 

We have found that students often misinterpret their scantron results.  Specifically, students expect the report to show their answers. 

 

However, the report actually shows the correct answers in column two (labelled KEYS).  The student's answer is shown in column three (if they missed the question).   

 

Additionally, an asterisk (*) indicates a wrong answer because multiple items were shaded, and an (x) indicates that no choice was selected for that question.

 

Example Error Report:
Error report showing column 1 is question number, column two is answer key, column 3 is the student's answer (if incorrect)
