You have caught the muskie bug. Perhaps a friend took you muskie fishing
and you had some success, or you hired a guide and are hooked. Perhaps
an article prompted you to find more information about the mighty muskie.
Great! Welcome to the greatest freshwater fishing endevor you will ever
undertake. While there are countless articles written about just what lure
you need at what time of the year, and where to use that lure, there seems
to be a lack of information on just what type of equipment to use. Some
of the information seems dated, and word of mouth from some large sporting
goods chains is also out of date. If you don't want to hunt down the following
equipment I suggest heading to a tackle shop that specializes in muskie
fishing. The staff will probably be muskie nuts as well and will give you
good advice. I warn you to be careful of the mega-shops in large cities,
often the "experts" will lead you down the wrong road for your true equpiment
needs.
Let's take a look at the basics for Rods, Reels, Line, Leader, Release Tools, and perhaps one of the most important tools, guides. |
