Work

I am the Associate Director and Senior System Administrator for the Computer Systems Lab of the University of Wisconsin Computer Science Department.

My responsibilities include the network (postmaster, hostmaster, planning and troubleshooting), software planning, security, training, purchasing, and hiring and supervising the student staff -- oh yeah, and a bunch of management stuff (more purchasing, budgeting, and going to too many meetings).

I have been working as a fulltime system administrator since December 1991. Before that I worked for the lab as a student sysadmin, and a Unix developer for Gould Electronics and Motorola in Urbana, Illinois. Just in case you are interested, my resume is online (in pdf format).
