Projects

Implementation of a means to simulate the working of a regular expression
DescriptionInvolves creation of a Finite automaton by first constructing a non-deterministic version and the converting it into a deterministic automaton by means of subset construction method and further minimizing the automaton by mark and reduce algorithm. A strings membership to the given regular expression is tested by passing it through the automaton and obtaining a Boolean value
Technologies UsedC
Implementation of an intelligent movie recommendation algorithm
DescriptionInvolves the creation of a web-based service with around 200 movies, 694 users and 8000 ratings to recommend movies intelligently to the users using item based collaborative filtering
Technologies UsedJDBC and JSP, Javascript Google Search API, Apache Tomcat
Power Grid Contingency Analysis using High Performance Computing
DescriptionDistributing load or load balancing among various resources in the power grid in case of power failure. The algorithms currently available are capable of performing this task when only one system fails at a time. We found an algorithm to account for multiple points of simultaneous failure and parallelized it to work on multicore CPUs and GPUs. This was run on a multicore system to observe the speed-up before testing it on highly parallel architectures such as GPU. (Done under guidance of Dr. Md. Zubair of ODU, Norfolk, Virginia)
Technologies UsedC, C++, NVidia CUDA Toolkit for GPU programming
