Summary for Week 5

• Lecture 8: We discussed the Elgamal public-key cryptosystem. We also dicussed the Diffie-Hellman key exchange protocol. We covered man-in-the-middle attack on Diffie-Hellman.
• Lecture 9: We covered a digital signature algorithm based on RSA. We started discussing MACs and hash functions. We discussed various properties of hash functions, such as one-way and weak collision resistance.
