Description

Crash Commando is a 2D side-scrolling multiplayer shooter pitting two commando factions (blue and red), the Grunts and the Jarheads, against each other in a battle. The player takes control of a single commando and can make use of a range of weapons and other equipment. This includes a jetpack, a rocket launcher, a machine gun, a sniper rifle, C4, jeeps, and tanks. At the start of the map the load-out is determined, with primary and secondary weapons, and grenades. Each map has two gameplay layers the player can move between using portals in the environment. This second layer can be seen with soldiers fighting in the background and it is possible to directly attack that layer from the other side.

The commando is controlled with the left analog stick for aiming and the right one to shoot. Levels are filled with obstacles that can be used for cover and it is also possible to man turrets for a short time. The different game modes include deathmatch, team deathmatch, and map objectives (capture-the-flag but with computer terminals). As the game is multiplayer-focused, matches can also be played against AI-controlled bots. The game can be launched directly from PlayStation Home.
