Palom's Tale: The Mage's Voyage is an optional story for Final Fantasy IV: The After Years. It is a separate download for mobile phones and a DLC for WiiWare version of the game.

Palom is a young black mage, he is Porom's brother and one of the important characters in the original Final Fantasy IV. The story involves Palom traveling to Troia to train young priestess Leonora in the arts of Black Magic. The two soon witness the arrival of the Mysterious Girl and try to thwart her plans.

Palom's Tale features mechanics introduced in Final Fantasy IV: The After Years - bands and the change of the moon phase. Palom's Challenge dungeon (accessible after the story is completed) is a series of levels (floors) selected randomly once you enter the dungeon. Each level has it's own theme and a set of enemies.

Palom's Tale is not necessary for completing Final Fantasy IV: The After Years, however finishing this story will allow the players to export the characters with all their items, equipment and characteristics into the final tale - The Crystals.
