Description

GodMode is a co-operational multiplayer shooter set in Greek mythology. The players are renegade son of gods and were banished to Hades. Now they have to participate in arena fights in order to get the god's grace back. Despite the setting, players still use conventional guns. Each match has the same basic progression: players start one of the five maps and have to survive multiple enemy waves. Then they proceed to the next area and repeat until they reach the treasury. Then friendly fire gets activated and players fight among each other for the biggest share. On some maps there is a boss fight before the treasury.

The game's speciality is that in each round there is a random condition which may be positive (e.g. unlimited ammo), negative (e.g. it spawns an invulnerable enemy) or neutral (e.g. all enemies have hats). The group has a limited amount of lives which is shared between all members, but otherwise teamwork plays only a minor role. Each player also has special abilities, e.g. healing or a temporary shield, which can be activated after charging an energy bar by hitting enemies. With the earned gold, players can buy new abilities, new weapons, weapon upgrades or different clothes. There is also the option to make a match harder by activating handicaps beforehand like less ammo drops on the maps; in return this rewards more money.
