Description
Mass Effect 3: Leviathan is a DLC expansion for the Mass Effect 3 single-player game. It involves Shepard's quest to find the Leviathan, an ancient being capable of killing a Reaper. Answers to old questions are revealed which impact the story from the beginning of the series, including the evolution of the Reaper race itself and its connection to Sovereign and the Collectors. This add-on integrates directly into the main game and opens up new galaxy locations for exploration. Existing squad members accompany Shepard on missions, Codex entries are added, and travel to and from the Normandy is necessary. When back on the Normandy, all actions normally taken aboard ship can be performed including working on other main-game missions, upgrading equipment, talking to squad members etc. All squad members have comments about this experience in between the individual missions and after the DLC is finished. Although this expansion does not change the final game ending, it does add some Leviathan-related dialog to it.
The DLC is available for play after completing the "Priority: Palaven" mission in the main game. Shepard receives an urgent message from Admiral Hackett instructing him to go see a Dr. Bryson in his secret lab on the Citadel. The doctor's lab can be reached only at the Citadel when docking, or by using the rapid transit system in the Normandy Docking Bay.
The gameplay includes adventure-like investigative research, interaction with other beings as well as traditional combat. Several of the missions include fierce gun fights with some of the most powerful Reaper minions.
These bonuses can be acquired while completing Leviathan:
- Two new weapons (AT-12 Raider Shotgun and M-55 Argus Assault Rifle)
- Five new weapon mods
- Eleven new war assets
- The Dominate bonus power, which makes enemies temporarily turn on each other
- One cabin item (Bryson's Husk Head Experiment)
