Description
Way of the Dogg is a a music-based rhythm fighting game similar to the concept of the Elite Beat Agent games. The protagonist is America Jones who is on a revenge quest for the murder of his girlfriend Sierra. He is trained in martial arts by hip hop artist Snoop Dogg (Snoop Lion) in various temple levels scattered between the main fights. The 14 levels are set to his music and to fight the player has to match the button presses displayed on the screen with the music's beat to string together attacks and defence. Targets are shown shown as large circles and the player has to wait until the surrounding shrinks to match the circle's size to execute it. Some targets are set in a line to execute or swipe through them quickly in a fast combo. Rather than a string of button presses or taps, it also includes pressing and holding actions, or pressing directions simultaneously. There is no direct control over the fighting however. The linear sequence is executed by timing the actions in order to progress through the game. After a number of moves Jones is able to launch a larger quick time event based attack to take off a bar from the enemy's health. It is based on the tug of war concept however, so missing it removes from Jones' health.
In the middle of the game, time travel enters the story and Jones gets to replay the entire game with an alternate plotline. Next to the main campaign mode there is a two-player multiplayer mode (only on console), a challenge mode, an art gallery and various bios.
