Living Legends and Slug Saw the Living Legends at First Ave last night. The living legends are arguably the best crew in Hip Hop. They opened up for Tha 'Liks who I dont know very well aside from that they are from LA. Two Highlights: 1. Grouch opened the show with Simple Man. ("dont mistake man for mind cuz im not simple minded, just logically efficient and completely one time.") 2. Slug made a guest appearence on stage for Night Prowler. This was amazing for two reasons: a.Its a Dope cut. b. First time Ive ever seen a colaboration (slug wasnt even on the bill) in concert between to different groups. Ive been to a lot of shows and many of those shows have been with groups who have collaborated on album projects but never on stage.
Have any of you been to a show where two or more groups colaborated on stage (freestyles dont count)? Seen any good shows recently?

Exciting weekend evening Tonights festivities at our humble abode included:
Sipping on foofy drinks,
Munching on delicious girl scout cookies,
Taking on a stimulating crossword puzzle,
(dont worry, picture is work safe) and listening to the dulcet sounds of next-door coitus. posted at 12:32 AM

Singley.org Grand Opening!! The highly anticipated opening of Singley.org has arrived. Singley.org is run by one of my best and oldest (since way before 87) friends in the world, Mr. Eric Singley, who is currently a dope web and user-interface designer in the Chi (aka Chicago). His site features a blog, some recipes, some snazzy javascript, and some sweet photography ( goto his Halloween Madison 2000 photos, if you can guess which one I am you get a prize (prize is only available to those who dont know what was dressed up as that year)). posted at 12:01 AM

On monday night I saw a lecture at the U, by Chris Ware of Jimmy Corrigan: The Smartest Kid on Earth, fame and Ira Glass of NPR's This American Life fame. After being introduced to Chris Ware by Ocala, I have been amazed by how cool his work is and at the same time disturbed by the melancholy nature of his work. The lecture allowed me to see some of the method behind his madness genius. Mr. Glass was fascinating as well, NPR/MPR and RadioK are pretty much the only stations worth listening to in this town. The two recently colaborated for This American Life, the CD, Chris Ware has also done CD cover art for Andrew Bird's Bowl of Fire. Check them out posted at 11:47 PM

"This one goes out to the one(s) I love"
Happy Valentines day everybody! In honor of the days of yore when grade-schoolers would give out valentines to everyone in their homerooms, here's a Valentine for all of you. I really wanted to tape cherry candy suckers on back of the card, to make this day even sweet but Walgreens was sold out. Oh well. Have a great day, much love to all of you.
here are some card ideas: A modern Valentines Card , care of Blue Mountain and the always tasteful The Onions Valentines Day Cards. Or you could make your own all it takes is some paper and markers and a little bit of inspiration. posted at 12:02 AM

California Dreamin Heres a nice thought to help us through these cold winter monthes, 85 and sunny with 70+ degree water. Sounds a little like a fantasy world when one has to deal with a midwestern winter. But such a world exists in San Diego, California. As seen here:
Thanks to Joe for this glimpse of paradise AKA Pacific Ocean tide pools. I hope to witness them in person soon. ;) posted at 12:24 AM

Quality Eats on the Town We ate at three new (to me) MPLS (Minneapolis) restuarants this weekend: Friday, Quang excellent super cheap ($6 dinner!) Vietnamese spot on Nicollet and 27th, I recommend the Lemon Grass Chicken. Saturday, Pizza Luce superb sheik Pizza spot in the warhouse district. The Spanish Chicken pizza is bomb, the Athena (the veggie choice) was solid as well. Sunday, Restaurant Alma a cozy little sophisticated jewel, tucked amonst U of M student housing. I had rabbit for the first time, was s'ok, but the Chicken & Chorizo & Beans dish was Amazing. This weekend makes me realize that theres is a world of Quality restuarants out there. I think going out to eat at least once a week should be a good policy.
So what are some Quality restuarants that you folks have discovered recently? Im very interested in resaurants outside of the Twin Cities. So feel free to drop your A-list.
