No Sleep til Yokahama
Was up late watching the England/Brazil match, was up early watching USA/Germany. I kinda wanted England to win since I was introduced to soccer by the English Premier League. The US/Germany game was awesome. Its unfortunate that we lost, but it was so much more fun watching this match than the 2-0 victory over Mexico. The way the US played against Germany, a control game, allowed them to dictate the match and displayed the team's true talent more then the bunker-defensive style play against Mexico. Even though many (myself included) thought that the US were lucky to make it out of the first round. Their play in the 1-0 defeat showed that they deserved to be one of the top eight teams in the World. permanent link

Barnes & Noble
I've stopped by a Barnes & Noble store with a $50 dollar gift certificate at least 4 times over the past month but have come out empty handed each time. A couple times I didn't know what I wanted going in and didn't see anything that was worthy, the other times (like today) they didn't have the books I was looking for. Its sort of frustrating, they have so many books/mags/etc. yet I usually cant find a reason to spend $50; my apartment doesn't really need any more additions to our coffee table collection and every novel that I want to read, I always think that I'll find it a Half Price Books or the library (neither of which I've been to in months).
One thing I did see that, in hind-sight, I regret not purchasing is the latest issue of The Fader magazine. The Fader is a super-high-Quality Designed Hip-Hop Magazine with incredible photography. One article that caught my eye was about soccer fans in New York, each representing one of 8 nations viaing for this year's World Cup, including a write up on some Senegal fans whose team has upset a number of teams and are currently in the quarter finals. The Fader website is pretty nice as well and has some DJ mixes including a Dan the Automater set that I'm vibin' to as I post this. permanent link

5 Year Reunion
This weekend marked Minneapolis South High's five year reunion for the class of '97. Unfortunately there was no Josh Hartnett sighting, nor was there a Rachel Leigh Cook sighting (Hartnett c/o 96, LeighCook c/o 98), on the other hand I did get to talk to the newest South High movie star: Meagan Kuhlmann who is making her Hollywood debut in the next Adam Sandler/Rob Schneider film,The Hot Chick, which I can't wait to see.
For as much grumbling that gets made about the relevence of a five year reunion, it was actually a lot of fun. So much fun that the party spilled over into our apartment. Took a few pics,

there was not much sobriety, as seen here,

and here.
My attitude was, well I guess I'll go to the reunion (cuz I got nothing better to do); My attitude is reunions are what you make them and I had a great time. Many thanks, to the senior class counsel for calling so many folks and putting together a Quality event.permanent link

Bringing a camera to a music store
Evan and I wandered down to the Electric Fetus and brought our cameras. It was such a beautiful day that the pictures practically took themselves:
