Breaking from habit
So for the past ~8 months, the majority of the hours of the marjority of the days have been spent sitting in front of a computer. I went from a combination of surfing/looking for jobs/working on website, to working on databases/spreadsheets at work/and coming home to surf a large part of the night away. Today our nice neighbor stopped by and asked if she could use my computer to check her email. I said sure, even though I was online and in the middle of something (actually it was nothing, but for a minute I felt that did need to be using the computer), anyways I let her check her email, clean out her indox and write a few replies. Meanwhile I began to pick up around the apartment. By the time she finished with her email, I had: cleanedup most of the kitchen, taken out the trash/recycling, cleaned my room, folded some clothes and scrape some gum off of my work pants. Our place is now emaculate and my wardrobe is in order. See usually I'm fairly absorbed in what I'm doing on the computer, and don't really care if there are dirty cups laying about or if my room is a pig sty. But thanks to my neighbor, I was able to take a break and get a bunch of necessary chores done. (Thank you, Irma) The point being that one should be aware of their habits.
So guess what, Im back on the computer online, I found this amazing photographers website. Her name is Elinor Carucci and her work captures incredibly intimate and beautiful moments of everyday life.
Check it out, unless you've been online all day, then go take out the trash or wash a few dishes first, you'll appreciate it more :)permanent link

Warning: this post is for the most part a slam of Star Wars Episode 2

First, let me say that I really wanted to like the movie. The story was very good and special effects were pretty sick. BUT there were too many strikes against it: I disliked the main characters, Anakin was frighteningly psychotic regardless of whether he was teaming up with Obi-wan or professing his love (????) for Padme. Padme had no personality and was therefore impossible to care for, although Yoda was tight.
The movie felt too long, this is mainly because when there wasn't an action scene, the characters made the scenes boring/unbelievable/bad.
There were lots of copied elements from the other Star Wars films: parking on asteriods, broken bridges, reused dialog, etc.

I could go on and on but instead I will say this. Regardless of how good or bad the movie has a whole is, a couple cool scenes make this a must see movie. That is must see, without expectations.

I would like to here some positives from you allpermanent link

the mean streets of the minneapple
There's an interesting article in this week's City Pages, about the infamous stech of Franlin Avenue from Chicago to Bloomington. My bus to work runs along the 8 block stretch everyday, so I am very much aware that on any given day, the driver will urge the sober riders to hurry onto the bus before the incoherent drunks try to get on. On any given day one may witness an arguement between two women escalate into a fist fight leaving one of them a bloody mess. On any given day one may witness the victorious brawling woman cross the street, swill vodka out of an open uncovered bottle and kick-it with her friends until the cops arrive.Yes, on any given day one may witness the events that are depressing/concerning/alarming/etc on this tough little strech in south Minneapolis.
The question is, how do you act to improve conditions of the tough neighborhoods near you?permanent link

SpiderMan
Saw Spiderman last night. It was excellent, a perfect adaptation of the comic-book.
3 thoughts:
1. Kirsten Dunst needs serious dental work.
2. Willem Dafoe has watched The Shining one too many times.
3. Everything was digitally enhanced amplified, even the booty.

Go see it!permanent link

Fake-ass A&R
So my roommate Ben made a cd for a friend today. Basically a punk rock cd featuring some D4 and some Heroin Sheiks which is all that important. What is important on the other hand, is he was going through some of our old pictures to make the cd art and he found two of the funniest pictures. I laughed so hard at his creation that I had to share these pictures with you.
