June 21st

Our first stop in the morning was the Pacific Ocean......followed by taking a 2 hour stroll through Golden Gate park. We managed to find an empty polo field and a frisbee golf course (we were frisbee-less), but got lost trying to find the Bison herd. Some interesting trees in the park that grow along the ground.
Exiting San Francisco, and heading north on the Golden Gate.Angel Island State Park and sailboats in the bay. After a quick stop at the Vista Point, we headed for a much better view of the GG Bridge from the west.
Near the lighthouse at the Pacific Coast in GG National Rec Area. The Bay Bridge and SF skyline.Even a cruise ship can't match up to the Golden Gate.
The wind here was ferocious. Four photos later, we caught one without Kacey's hair in her face.Easily our worst stop of the trip, Frommer's recommended two terrible hikes in Point Reyes National Seashore. This was a re-created Indian village from the local Indians. Like the original Indian villages, this was quickly going into disrepair, probably due to lack of funds. The "earthquake hike" was a paved stroll along the San Andreas fault line. This (rebuilt) fence moved 15 feet or so in the great quake of 19XX. The bonus was that these two hikes were so un-interesting, we were the only people on the path. We should have driven to the beautiful lighthouse on the coast.
Thanks to slow-going on the coastal highway CA-1, we arrived in the Redwoods just in time for sunset. They are clearly not as broad as the Sequioas, but the height made them seem much more impressive. Some ordinary Redwoods at a pull-off on the Avenue of the Giants in the Humboldt State Park. Our only other picture that turned out due to poor lighting :(
