The Dungeness Spit, a 5 mile long stretch separating Dungeness Bay (on the right) from the Strait of Juan de Fuca. | Half of the spit is a avian sanctuary, and the other half serves as a walking path to the lighthouse.

The lighthouse at the end of the spit is still ~3 miles away when we turned back. | As seen from the spit, the Olympic peaks rise above Dungeness Bay. | Wildlife and scenic mountains on the drive up to Hurricane Ridge. |

Our reward at the top of Hurricane Hill was a panoramic view of...clouds. At least we had a picture there to show us what we were missing. | We saw at least five elk on the hike down, some of whom followed us down the trail, perhaps hoping to be fed.

On the drive back down, we broke out of the clouds for a bit to enjoy a view of Port Angeles and the Strait of Juan de Fuca (the lower blue is water, not more clouds). |
