Overview: --------- The AC-1 Armored Car is the end product of what was originally Pinard Protectorate Ltd.'s submission to the LT-1 Light Tank design competition. While the TDF felt that Vandenburg Mechanized Industries' design was better suited for that role, they were impressed with PPL's design and gave instructions for PPL to return after making a few modifications to their design. Three months later, the AC-1 Armored Car was approved and the TDF agreed to purchase a thousand over the course of the next five years. Capabilities: ------------- The AC-1 Armored Car is designed first and foremost for urban combat. Its wheeled movement system works best on pavement and its weapons array is designed to work at close range. The AC-1's primary anti-mech and anti-vehicle armament consists of a Lg. Laser and two SRM-6s, and two machine guns are included for anti-infantry combat. The designers intentionally did not give the AC-1 Armored Car the ability to use inferno rounds, because it is intended to be used mostly in a defensive role and the designers did not want to encourage the use of these weapons in friendly cities. Finally, its sides and rear are well-armored, to minimize the effects of an AC-1 being taken by surprise in the urban environment.
