It requires Java 5.0 or higher. It is an introduction to programming and also an introduction to Java directed towards people who do not have any background in programming, although it might also be useful for experienced programmers who want to learn something about Java. It is certainly not meant to provide complete coverage of the Java language. ABOUT THE AUTHOR: David J. Eck, Ph.D. in Mathematics (Brandeis University, 1980) is working as a teacher and instructor at the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science of the Hobart and William Smith Colleges.
