Very comprehensive book. Maybe examples are focusing too much on Oracle (instead of open source RDBMS like PostgreSQL or MySQL).
A good book for beginners and intermediate level users. It covers concepts of database design well. Upon registration, you have access to resources on their website for 6 months.

Dr. Elmasri is Professor of Computer Science and Engineering at The University of Texas at Arlington. Dr. Elmasri received his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Alexandria University, Egypt, in 1972. He completed his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Science at Stanford University in 1980.
