Reading this before the exam helps to review all necessary topics and remember details. Its question ideas are very close to the ones on the exam. I even had exactly the same score on its mock exam and on the real exam. Very good explanations and examples. I'd recommend the book. And also it's written by a woman :)))

Complete coverage of the syllabus with comparable difficulty for the practice questions. Needs to be supplemented with a Mock exams book though.

This book is an absolute waste of time! I've never read a book worse than this (I went only to the half of the oracle's data base certification book, which was even worse). It is a clear rewriting of the java documentation and nothing more. It prepares you for the exam, as it points what tricks could be used in the questions and how to look after them, but the certificate itself is a fucking useless piece of paper, that examines your ability to remember documentation, rather than writing java co ...more

A great book for OCA Java SE 7 Programmer Exam. The material is great, the exercises force you to think, and the book prepares you for the real exam genuinely. I cleared this exam with a decent score, thanks to this book. I haven't been able to get a copy of Mala Gupta's book for OCPJP 7 exam, can't wait to read it!

This is a fine read if you don't know anything (or may be a little) about Java basics. I would strongly recommend certificate aspirants to read additional material (for instance, Sierra's OCA/OCP Java SE 7 Programmer I & II Study Guide), and to take this book as an appetizer only.

It's a very good book for a beginner to get the basic java principles, however I wouldn't recomend relying on it if you are taking OCJP exam. There are definitely better books out there that I have read (at least for me).

I've used this book to achieve my OCA Java SE 7 certification.
I definitely reccommend it to prepare for the exam along with WhizLabs questions database.
Don't expect to read a text on Java programming as this is merely focused on exam preparation.

Very good book for anyone who wants to understand fundamentals of Java. The examples and the code in the book help in grasping the concepts.

I used this as my primary source of studying, and it helped me to pass the test on my first shot. I would recommend getting a license to the Ethnuware tests to supplement the lack of question bank in this text, but otherwise it's fantastic means to prepare for the OCAJP test.

A good book for reviewing the things but don't go and take your exam solely based on this book. Not enough questions are present in this book.
