This is a great book for people who want to become beginners in Java. It is not very detailed, but it has all the basics for running some simple programs. I would say the books age range is for people around the age of 10-17. It is not a reference book, but mainly a book to give people a jumpstart to the upcoming language. It helps programmers to gain fundamentals and knowledge about Java programming through easy to use practice examples. It starts out by explaining what is Java, it also gets into the different parts in Java, and has many great examples that go along as well.

The book starts out like any other programming book. It explains what Java programming is and how it can be useful in life. In the prologue it talks about the purpose of the book to, “explain the fundamentals of Java through fun and easy examples” (Patel 2). For some of the programs used in this book, it will require a person to have a developing environment installed and their computers. For me personally, I prefer Bluej. Once the developing environment is set up, then you can start enjoying the fun practices the book has to offer.

Of course the book does not throw you right into programming. It starts out talking about the different data types, and then it gets into basic programming. The first program you will do, just like any other beginner is, “display “Hello World” on your computers screen” (Paten 15). It is a nice way to appreciate your beginner programming skills. Just like with every program you make, that turns out successful, you will feel a great sense of accomplishment when it works. Next the book gets into a little more complicated programming.

The next couple of chapters talk about strings, loops, and arrays. The author does a nice job in explaining the different concept so that beginners can understand. They have great examples that clearly show what is happening along the way. For example, when they talk about strings “We break down each step to ensure the student can follow along and learn, with the given examples” (Paten 29). I learned how to run simple programs with these great examples.

Core Java Programming by Jitendra Patel, is a great book for beginners to get introduced into Java. Its examples and explanations really help a person to understand the Java language. This book is meant to be for young people who want to get a jumpstart in Java. It is not a great reference book, but it still explains the fundamentals of Java pretty well. I would definitely recommend this book, to anyone who is interested in the area of Computer Science.

Really this is the book from a novice can start and build confidence of programming. The cover is not good. But sometimes the faces of people are not attractive their heart are impressive.

So any one who is confused about where to start java programming can trust this book.

Simple, ease of use, easy to understand and implement examples are the key points of this book.
