Highly acclaimed screenwriter, David McKenna, has written an original event-driven storyline for the interactive game that leads the player through a sordid underworld. The Scarface video game creates a gameplay environment that authentically recreates the historical time period of the film, touching on politics, news items and events of the day. Players travel through the steamy, often violent streets of Miami, the irie islands of the Florida Keys, the Bahamas and various other locales and interact with a world full of seedy and dangerous characters to procure information, negotiate business deals, smuggle contraband and avoid rivals and DEA on a mission to rebuild their fallen empire. 1. For those who dare to tug on the tiger’s tail, prepare for an experience that will satiate your lust for money, power and women while simultaneously entertaining you almost every step of the way.
  2. Although it is formulaic at times and some of the set missions such as protecting a boat with a helicopter gunship while it catches sharks for a restaurant are a bit cheesy, the challenge of making more money, spending it and gaining greater power are as addictive as the white substance that makes its way up Tony's nose.
  3. There are some questionable gameplay choices and it can be confusing at times, but the sharp script, solid voice acting, and uncanny atmosphere show an appreciation for the source material like few movie games do.

Scarface's attitude is enjoyable and infectious. [Dec 2006, p.94]

You control territories: It's like a much more fleshed-out version of the gang warfare in "San Andreas". [Jan. 2007, p.72]
  6. Simply put, the random missions are repetitive and they soon get very boring.
  7. If you’re into blood, guts and violence then Scarface is not a bad game other than the pretty lame AI.

The music, the voice acting, and the overall feeling is 10/10, but the flaws seriously hurt this game. If they just made the car-handling better and fixed the awkward, sluggish controls, this game would be 10/10 material. Too many problems for a patch to fix, as far as the typical patch. Man, this game could have been golden. Expand
