A "gateway" game. Its friendly enough for first time players, but its got all the things to keep you playing and become a hardcore racer. (Its even got options to show you the best trajectory and supply driving tips.) But even the hardcore simmer will find F1RC a challenge and realistic.
-
Because of the depth of the physics, setups, and customizable AI, you'll have your hands full as long as you want.

Take ("F1 2000") and speed up the graphics a bit, add a new training mode, polish the AI, and offer rainy day racing and all the real-life grids from the 2000 Formula One season and you've got F1 Championship Season 2000.
-
CNET GamecenterAs a patch it would be near-perfect; it successfully addresses several key concerns, adds one seriously compelling new element, and generally turns a very good racing experience into an exceptional one. Certainly, this is the game EA should have released in the first place.
-
To tell the truth, this whole product should have been a giant patch for F1 2000 rather than a standalone sequel.
-
Daily RadarThe dismal gameplay coupled with the subpar framerates make this play more like a B-grade no-name title rather than the AAA title it was supposed to be, and that's just not forgivable.
