The PC porting of Final Fantasy XIII's last installment is the best of the trilogy, but it still isn't enough to raise the game from its intrinsic mediocrity.

The PC version of Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII is a good porting that runs smoothly at 1080p/60fps on older PCs. The game has still few balancing issues, but its combat system can be fun.

A great pc port of a not-so-great jrpg. It’s still a decent experience for fans of the series or the genre though, and the sheer technical value of this version is enough to try it out if you missed it in the past.

It may be one step forward and two steps back in the overall Final Fantasy XIII series, but it is still an attractive package.

In comparison to XIII it’s certainly a stronger experience, but it’s a case of whether you can stomach yet another adventure in that vein.

Lightning returns for the last time, as a PC port, and wow, Japanese do not understand computers at all. Not even mouse support!? [02/2016, p.59]

The crazy good game from 2013/14 now in 1080p and 60fps. Port is great.

LIGHTNING RETURNS: FINAL FANTASY XIII is the third and final part of the FINAL FANTASY XIII series and features Lightning as the only playable character, a first in the series.

There are couple of times that you will have someone in your party, this includes The Wildlands with a white Chocobo, and Fang in The Dead Dunes. The Doomsday Clock will start off as something to worry you, but it's literally nothing to worry about when you realize this, you just need to complete the five main quests in order to extend the world's time to a full 13 days. I also recommend you do as many side quests as possible in order to unlock some pretty cool stuff at the end of the game. If you do run out of time, or if you can't seem to defeat the final boss you can restart the game from the first day on the Arc via New Game+ which will allow you to change your difficulty setting and keep all your stats, equipment and items. And I strongly recommend playing New Game+ to complete any side quests and trophies you missed the first time or even the end game things I mentioned earlier.

Fighting some old friends and enemies as boss battles at the end of main quests was also quite fun. I honestly believe they managed to capture Lightning's perspective perfectly, and having her on her own proved that. And while I would have loved fighting alongside characters such as Sazh again or even fighting alongside Fang more, it just wouldn't have the same emotional effect. Gameplay was fun, but took some getting used too. It definitely suited the game though. The combat system from XIII and XIII-2 wouldn't have suited it.

I'll admit when Lightning mentioned visiting Eorzea, I started thinking of playing FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn. Haha.

I will admit I missed leveling up, and monsters only served the purpose of quest items.

I'm very happy to say all my questions were answered in a good way.

In the end closure was brought to every character (except for maybe a white wedding). As per usual, the ending was stunning, I've never seen such a beautiful cutscene. I'll admit I nearly shed a tear when Lightning did.

In summary, this was a great game with a ton of replay value via New Game+ and most importantly an amazing ending.

good ported game. you can take 60 fps in game. battle system is real time system and have 4 skill you can use in battle. defense attack magicgood ported game. you can take 60 fps in game. battle system is real time system and have 4 skill you can use in battle. defense attack magic and debuff. there are a lot of skills you can choise and you can use 4 skills. open world gameplay. graphics and city designs are perfect. i liked them. scenario is not good and not bad. it is mixed but there are cliches. no skill tree. you can make stronger your character with items and skill. skills can be improved. also outfits can make your character stronger. every outfit is different. some of all are phsycal damage some of all magical damage some of all tanky-like paladin-. every outfit has 4 skill you can make custom. no teammates only lightning. and lightning can use 3 outfits in a battle.

i think it is good arpg game. better than 13 and 13-2.

Lot of content, but it's set-up to where you can do all of it. Still I'm taking my time and just playing it multiple playthroughs instead of even trying to use a guide and play everything all at once.

I won't spoil anything or even tell you anything you can see from any other honest review--meaning anything 7 and up. I'll just say this is truly Final Fantasy and I haven't felt like this about the franchise since 6 (when it was still called 3 in the US). XIII series is really great. Totally epic. Not sure what the best trilogy in gaming of all time is, but this would be a top candidate for me. Haven't finished Witcher 3 yet.

If you can believe it, this game runs flawlessly at 60 FPS, meaning it's potentially the first time SE has made a good PC port. EverythingIf you can believe it, this game runs flawlessly at 60 FPS, meaning it's potentially the first time SE has made a good PC port. Everything functions as it should, which is miles better than XIII and XIII-2's ports.

As for the game, I've now played all three of them, didn't much care for the first two but this game is a complete turnaround of that. It's genuinely fun to play and explore, feeling more like Dragon's Dogma than the other two FFXIII games.

Surprised to say it, but I would absolutely recommend this game.

I am genuinely perplexed as to how this port has gained any favourable reviews.
As ports go, it's barely a token effort. If you've ever used a console emulator on a keyboard, you'll understand the experience.

So far, I've had the game window open for two hours. One hour of that was working round two game breaking bugs just to get past the first cutscene. The rest of that time was trying to find controls that were in any way usable in order to get through the first battle.

There has been no effort put in to make the game playable on a PC. There is no mouse support, and despite mapping keys all over the keyboard and separating out menu directional controls from movement directional controls (I really wish I were kidding), they've bound jump, cancel, and one of the attack buttons to backspace, another attack button to comma, and the last one to Enter.

So you will have to use a gamepad to play this game. But what if the gamepad isn't the gamepad they used? Well you're still out of luck, as you can't remap gamepad buttons. But "Ahah!" you might say, "I can simply remap my joypad!". "No" the game replies, as every time you select a menu item, it stops taking any inputs until you click outside of the game window and click back inside it.

While this game can be played up to 1080p / 60fps, the graphical options are a random mishmash of options featuring just about everything you never wanted, and nothing you did. Bizarrely, there isn't an anti-aliasing option in there, yet it does have the ominously labelled "Color correction" and "Glare adjustment".

This port can be summed up by the message displayed after hitting new game which reads "Do not turn off your Playstation 3 system..."
So if you're thinking about buying this game, consider that advice: Leave the PS3 on, and this poor excuse for a port off.
