Marvel Heroes 2015 offers many hours of fun, with free content, true to Marvel Universe and note that the developer provides great support to the game with consecutive patches and added content, based on the feedback of a strong community. If you are a Marvel fan, what are you waiting for? Try it.

From Wolverine to Spider-Man and Cable, all the heroes you wanted to be when you were a kid are made available, with more to come. As an added bonus, you can unlock all of them without ever paying anything, which makes for the best kind of free-to-play experience, where you never feel constrained to do anything, and any money you spend only translates into cosmetic or quality-of-life upgrades, without unbalancing the game in any way.

A year later, Marvel Heroes is the game it wanted to be when it was released, and its ability to grow and change by acknowledging its problems and actively trying to solve them, is a testament to one of the best features of MMO.

Like Steve Rogers, Marvel Heroes initially had its heart in the right place, but was lacking everywhere else. Fortunately, the game has improved enough over the past year that the results are about as dramatic as Steve’s eventual transformation into Captain America via the Super Soldier Serum.

A surprisingly solid ARPG featuring a litany of iconic superheroes. [Sept 2014, p.56]

Marvel Heroes is now a solid title that any ARPG fan should at least try once. After a bumpy launch, it's back on track.

If you're a hardcore Marvel Comics fan you could find it entertaining, but even in it's latest incarnation Marvel Heroes is too lacking in terms of depth and mechanics.

They listened to player feedback and shown a great willingness to interact with the fans, exceeding expectations after the initial product was quite underwhelming. For those of us who stuck with it and saw the inherent potential, there has been a substantial payoff and the game is easily the best it has ever been.

Are there still flaws? Of course. But many of the bugs and issues are constantly being corrected by the dev team and I don't believe any feedback directed at them goes unheard. Most importantly, this game offers some freshness that hasn't been seen before in the ARPG genre and gives you a variety of gameplay option rather than forcing you to spend all your time on story, for example. The community itself is also pretty great the vast majority of the time and you'll typically encounter people that are helpful and generous. Sure, there are a few elitists and so on, but just ignore them and your experience won't be affected much.

Best of all, you can truly play free and there is no cap on progression or power if you don't spend money. I know this is important to players and rest assured there is no legitimate "pay-to-win" feature here. You can earn every hero just by playing and putting in the effort. On the other hand, costumes are such a rare drop they might as well not be one. Be prepared to dish out some dough if you want to sport some fancy new Iron Man armor or the black Spidey suit. Cosmetic items are their moneymakers, and are somewhat overpriced. Still, optional content is just that: optional. It has no impact on gameplay.

in summary: If you're an ARPG connoisseur or just a Marvel fanatic, there is a lot to like about this game, especially now compared to a year ago. I can't guarantee that you'll love it, but I can promise that the playable hero diversity and choices at your disposal will likely pique your interest and give you the urge to play more, see more, and earn more. The free-to-play aspect will get you started and, with any luck, the regular, frequent content updates will keep you playing for months upon months to come.

Still positive on the improvements over the last year, though thinking about the future outlook as I make more observations on the game, as well as the team. I've given substantial support to the game, and am interested in the state of things. I used to disagree with most negative reviewers on bugs, and thought the bug density was understandable. Now I'm not so sure, and am on the fence about it. Am also taking a second look at some player concerns on how their team treats/regards customers that have varying levels of grievances, or don't give frequent praise. Some of this can be gleaned from interactions on their forums. Their articulation is always courteous and professional, though unclear on certain times where there is (for example) silence on some things. Perhaps there's a little dismissiveness where there shouldn't be at times, but a bit more observation might be needed. Will jot down a future update once things become more clear.

It truly is impressive what these developers have accomplished over the past year. The very rocky start echoed in many of the other reviews is accurate. However, it really seems that these folks have worked at break-neck speed for months to produce a practically new game. I'm not a Marvel comics buff, but had a moderate exposure since I was a kid, and without a doubt this game will give you the experience of being your favorite hero. I own most of the heroes, and with the various character design reworks since last fall, it's been a blast leveling them up.

If anyone asks developers to focus on true end-game content such as PvP, the community will troll that thread till it gets closed. TheIf anyone asks developers to focus on true end-game content such as PvP, the community will troll that thread till it gets closed. The majority of the community does not want end-game content at all because they fear it would bring elitist players and it will turn their community into a toxic one. And they will attack any player that tries to discuss any challenging game mode. They prefer to keep their forums filled with threads discussing irrelevant topics.
