Guild Wars is one of my favorite games of all time. I happily paid $50 for each campaign and if I had the money I would do it again. Don't miss out.

I play WoW a lot, but during the downtime between expansions, I found myself picking this up. And then proceeded to sink more than a thousand hours into it. It's a great MMO, though it suffers from a few small issues, I wouldn't write it off as bad. Worth looking into if you're after a new MMO to try out.

Purchased this game back in 2010 for 19.99 one of the only games i actually paid cash for. I must say though this is a great game. Especially if you have people to join you. I would definetly buy this game again. I'm not even done with one campaign... and even this day in age there's quite a bit of people who still play guild wars 1 it's amazing. you can't go wrong at this price of the game trust me. i've played WoW since vanilla, Global Agenda since beta. This one was worth every penny for sure.

Classic. This is where my heart lies when it comes to MMORPG's. I will fight for Tyria til I die.

So far the best MMO I have ever played and am still playing... and compared to most MMOs, this game does not have a monthly recurring fee. I am definitely getting GW2 when it comes out.

Basically my entire childhood.

The game's pretty much dead now though, unfortunately, and everyone's gone over to GW2.

I got into Guild Wars through my friend (who has 1910.7 hours) when I was around ten years old. I was intrigued by the lore and always watched my friend play it while I was over at his house. Times were much simpler.

RIP childhood, you will always be missed.

(Unrelated, but an ant somehow got INSIDE of my LCD monitor while typing this. It's on a different 2D plane as my actual screen, somewhat like a parallax effect. This is bothering me.)

Having experienced 2000+ hours of gameplay, I can say that Guild Wars offers the best team-based combat in the Online RPG market with the absence of a monthly fee. Although not a true MMO due to the use of instancing in explorable areas, this game excels in cooperative play with either strangers, guildmates, or friends. Guild Wars also contains several unlockable rewards for its sequel, Guild Wars 2.

One of the greatest original MMOs in my opinion. Competing with EQ and WoW when it originally was released. Though it's nowhere near the content of WoW or other newer MMOs, it is still a great play, finding myself playing it every once in a while.

The game is primarily PvP based. Monetized tournaments and PvP based guilds are abundant and ArenaNet, in my opinion, really understood what players were looking for in PvP, and even more so in Guild Wars 2. No longer is gear a factor in PvP.

Even the storyline was rather fun to play and follow. If you enjoy game lore then you will sure get a lot of lore out of Guild Wars. Small in-game content and books cover most of the lore of the Guild Wars universe.

Due to being PvP based, many people have turned away from the game. I would suggest waiting for Guild Wars 2 to release within the next 1-2 years of writing this review rather than buying the original. But, if you really want to follow the storyline and even get a head start in GW2 by filling your 'Hall of Monuments' then go ahead and buy it. If you do, you can even ask me for help.

Even though I recommend this game, I still suggest you buy Guild Wars 2 rather than 1. Everyone will agree that 2 is a huge improvement over 1, though lacking some 1 content that we all loved.

I may be late to this party, but I know a good thing when I see it. An interface so simplistic you can figure out what's what within seconds, mated with a fairly intuitive control scheme, and I was out there whomping nasty critters with confidence, in under five minutes. A big plus in my book. Graphics are fun enough to stand looking at for hours, and there are plenty of quests and jobs of various natures to fill those hours easily. I say, this is a must have. Why I didn't jump on this wagon sooner, I'll never know.

I kind of went crazy during the summer sale. I'm an idiot. This game was probably good when it came out but I just can't invest in it. It's also a bit too much like WoW for my tastes, though granted it's very different - it's similar enough to turn me off.
