About This Game

Medieval II: Total War Kingdoms is the official expansion to last year's award-winning Medieval II: Total War, presenting players with all-new territories to explore, troops to command, and enemies to conquer.
Kingdoms is the most content-rich expansion ever produced for a Total War game, with four new entire campaigns centered on expanded maps of the British Isles, Teutonic Northern Europe, the Middle East, and the Americas. In Medieval II, you were only given a tantalizing glimpse of South America, but in Kingdoms, vast tracts of land in both North and South America have been opened up for you to conquer. All-new factions from the New World are also now fully playable, including the Aztecs, Apaches, and Mayans.
Along with the new maps in the Britannia, Teutonic, Crusades, and New World Campaigns, there are 13 new factions to play, over 110 units to control, and 50 building types, adding up to 80 hours of new gameplay. Kingdoms also offers new multiplayer maps and hotseat multiplayer, a first for the Total War series, allowing you to play one-versus-one campaign games on the same computer.
  • Four new campaigns - Britannia, Teutonic, Crusades, and New World
  • 10 new units
  • 13 new factions
  • 9 new agents
  • 50 new buildings
  • 60+ new territories across four new maps
  • 15 new multiplayer maps and scenarios
  • All-new 1v1 hotseat multiplayer campaign mode

WARNING: ABOUT THE GAME'S DISAPPEARANCE FROM YOUR LIBRARY

The game is not gone from your library, they simply merged it with Medieval II. To find it follow these steps:

  • Install Medieval II
  • Go to your steam game library
  • Right click on Medieval II
  • Below the "Play Game" option there should be 4 new options with the Kingdoms campaigns.

And now, after that prologue, LET THE REVIEW BEGIN!

Kingdoms is the expansion pack (yeah, not DLC, for 20 bucks you can buy actual, sturdy, nearly endless content) of Medieval II: Total War.

It includes 4 new campaigns set on different time periods and countries/continents full of 13 new factions, 50 new building types and over 100 new units. It's just overwhelming and so much worth it.

Each campaign covers an important moment in medieval history: the war for the British Isles, the Crusades in the Holy Land, the conversion of the pagans in Northern Europe and the conquest of the Americas. Some nice new elements that improve the game are the addition of heroes, more detailed maps, new soundtracks, new opportunities to exploit in order to increase your faction's influence and more.

The best part of this expansion is: MODS! To name a few: Stainless Steel, Third Age: Total War, The Elder Scrolls: Total War. You replace one of the default campaigns with one of the modded ones, and you can switch back and forth whenever you want with some PC file management.

On the downside, AI is still a bit slow-minded, both in battles and in overworld map. Armies choose automatically the long way around, allies are not reliable at all and it's better to control them personally, etc. The graphics feel a bit old too, but still ok for a 2007 game.

Overall, it's a vital experience for those that plan to add Medieval II in their collection with tons of new content, but it can be a bit non-challenging for hardcore strategy players.

If only they just built and updated the concept of this game instead of shifting the Total War games that they have in recent years to different styles like Attila Total War, etc. This is by far the best Total War game and includes alot of factors that the newer ones simply drowned out.

One of the best Total War entries to date. Be sure to check the Third Age mod for an epic campaign in Tolkien's Middle Earth.

One of the greatest expansions for any single-player game, ever. This adds 4 different campaigns to play, and has stolen many hours of my life. The Teutonic campaign is my favorite, but all are well crafted and addicting. Personally, I consider this expansion the height of the Total War series. Worth every penny, unlike the countless petty DLCs CA puts out now.

Don't let my playtime fool you, i've played this game for over a decade ever since 2006 and probably sunk thousands of hours into this game on disc. This game features a combination of RTS (while in battles) and TBS (displayed on the campaign map), you move your armies around on a fully 3D map authentic to the terrain of Europe and Asia, Risk style.

There are many troop types from Horse Archers to Knights to Longbowmen even Elephants and Native American braves! this game is a perfect example of a well crafted Total War game. Yes it is old, even on max graphics a graphics snob might brush this game off right away but this game captures the atmosphere, lifestyle, turbulance and religious strife of the Middle Ages wonderfully.

i would recommend this game if

* You are a Military History buff

* if you enjoy a bit of politics (The Pope mechanic)

* if you LOVE the Middle Ages

* If you love HUGE expansions that were made with care(back when CA knew what the term expansion meant)

* if you would like to take the lead in Braveheart sized battles

Would not recommend if you are a graphics snob

my only question is when is Medieval 3 coming out? =p

Is a very good worthwhile expansion.
It adds 4 great campaigns, and a good amount a content.

Its also from the great days when there was good large expansions and not tons of small tiny expensive ♥♥♥♥♥d out DLCs.
