If you're looking for a free-roaming game like Grand Theft Auto, fuhgeddaboutit. Mafia 2 has an open world, stores to shop at or rob, a police system, and many other things you'd expect from that sort of game, but like Mafia 1, the game is a lot more structured, and instead of having much in terms of side content it plays out like a traditional game campaign, with little time for free roaming. But the game's world is still well-designed, even if it's mostly pretty window dressing, and it makes the campaign feel more alive than it would if it was just a corridor shooter. It's not an amazing game, but it is a unique one. Mafia 2 is the kind of game where the police are actually police, and even though they'll probably never catch you they'll still try to ticket you for breaking the speed limit. It's the kind of game that isn't afraid to be a little tedious to give a sense of contrast between a "normal life" and the mafia life, like an early level that has you packing crates into the back of a truck to test your patience until you give up and leave. The developers do a good job at recreating the time period, and the cars, radio, and weapons all handle and sound pretty nice. The story and gunplay are both pretty well-done, and overall if you're a fan of mafia stories like The Godfather than Mafia 2 is worth a shot, as long as you don't go in expecting a true open world game.

One of my favourite open world games. Far superior than GTA series in my opinion. The detail and the story are that of movie quality. I swear to god you make mafia 3 like gta v i will hunt you down.......

I've played this game like 3 times now I think, such a great story, the shooting mechanism is outstanding, the driving is not my favorite but it is realistic in my opinion. I'm pretty sure no matter how many mafia games, none is gonna top this one, it's so good, loved it.

8/10

Amazing game. I love GTA but this is nothing compared to it, there's no over the top heists and stuff like that. This shows you a more realistic side of criminallity.
The overall look of the game is fantastic for it's age, the story comes filled with plot twists and double edged swords.
Loved it and im glad i revisited it on the PC.

10/10- The port could have been a little better since i had 1/2 crashes in my full 22h gameplay but its nothing unexpected from an older game like such.

This was a great game overall. The story and voice acting are top-notch, which is good because they is very little in the way of side missions in this game. One criticism I had of the game was a lack of fast travel options, as you will do a lot of driving in this game, and to make matters worse, the police will chase you on many infractions that they witness, including speeding!

I also played "Joe's Adventures" DLC, which I highly recommend. It covers a section of the main story when two the main protagonists are split up for a time. I found it much harder than the main story due to a score chasing mechanic that it employs which eliminates many of the checkpoints that the main game enjoys. Also, you get a lot of value for this DLC, it was about 40% the size of the main game.

Finally, the collectibles in this game are definitely "R"-rated, so beware if you are sensitive to such things. I'm avoiding spoilers here because it was fun to encounter them unknowingly...

While it's a super fun game, the autosave sucks. If you're not very good at completing a mission in gta is one or two tries, this game probably isn't for you. There's also some bad glitches which make it very hard to move forward in the story.

This is a polished piece of good game. Funny, nice visual (even today's standard), interesting story, and sexy playgirls.

If you are hesitating to buy Mafia 3, this is a good entry point for the story of Vito. Unlike Mafia 3, this game is well optimized and you will not be disappointed. It runs smoothly even on low level GPU, like GT 940M @1080p low settings.
Low settings does not mean it looks bad.

Grab it while on sell. Deluxe edition is not necessary, but will give you a kickstart at the early gameplay.

This game is just amazing. It is hevily based on story which is amazing. It is open-world but there is not much to do besides the story. If you like games with good stories and some awsome gameplay i highly recommend it. If you want to ♥♥♥♥ around, find a game that's more like GTA or just play GTA, because this really is not made for that.
