Not playing Portal is a big mistake
No seriously. What are you doing with your life? How could you ignore this masterpiece for so long? You probably think your efforts will be rewarded with cake. It won't. The reward is the game itself.

Positive:
- One of the most memorable gaming experiences of my life
- Hilarious, incredible, and amazing script and voice acting. Shout-outs to GLaDOS. It still amazes me that the one and only spoken-character will entertain, anger, surprise and sadden you throughout the game.
- Companion cube loves you <3
- Puzzles are well throughout out and designed
- Very friendly learning-curve.
- This game is perfect for both gaming beginners and veterans. Beginners are taught how to handle gradually-tougher puzzles, making Portal very non-frustrating. Veterans on the other hand will encounter challenging puzzles along the way.
- Replay value to the max
- Great ending-credits song
- Graphically the game still holds up

Negative:
- There is no cake.

Conclusion:
What are you still reading this for? Play Portal already!

Portal was my first experience with a puzzle game. Initially, I didn’t like it very much. I found it a bit boring and I felt locked up in this environment, unable to explore. Only after my third attempt to get back to the game I realized I was approaching it with the wrong perspective. I changed my attitude and decided to roleplay the character. It became a puzzle, horror, comedy world for me and I love it. The visuals are great for its time, the physics are well implemented and the puzzles were just hard enough to push me to beat them all. It took me less than ten hours to complete the game, but I enjoyed my frustration, discovery and success moments equally. I’m looking forward for the sequel.

A First Person Puzzle Game
https://youtu.be/E6IBnRJizHI
+ Very fun and unique gameplay. You receive a Portal Gun which lets you create two portals that you can pass through at any angle to get to various out of reach places or to quickly navigate from one place to another. You can even use your momentum from falling to slingshot yourself across a stage by placing portals beneath you.
+ The puzzles are challenging but not "too difficult". Most consist of getting from point A to B, some require you to move cubes on top of buttons to open doors. Others require you to redirect energy balls with your portal gun to activate various switches. These puzzles continue to get more difficult as you get near the end by including obstacles like turrets but the game really makes you think outside the box.
+ I personally feel like the story is what makes Portal "great" especially near the end of the game where you are trying to escape from the facility and kill GLaDOS a robot who controls everything in the lab who tries to kill you multiple times.
+ GLaDOS makes a lot of funny jokes and remarks throughout the entire game which keeps things interesting and enjoyable.
+ Quite a few easter egg type rooms with some humerous drawings and writing
+ The ending is fantastic which involves an awesome boss fight, lots of craziness, cake, and the best credits song I've ever heard. :)

- Some levels (especially in the second half of the game) are a bit too lengthly and sometimes feel a bit overwhelming. It took me many years to finally have the willpower to push myself to get past them and finish the game. (In 2016 lol)
- I felt like some parts of the game were a bit unclear...a new player can find themselves getting lost or stuck for quite a long time without using a guide. I did not use any guides on my playthrough and struggled during various parts, often thinking "uhh....that can't be right..." or "umm...what do I do now?" Be prepared to get stuck multiple times on your first playthrough.

My short review:

Its a great game with good puzzles and the humour is on point.

However, it is a little bit short. Both my review and the game. You should buy this game! You'll be GLaD that youve played it.

Having just beaten the game, I can, without a doubt, say that this is one of the greatest games I have ever purchased. Between puzzles that gently show you the rules, gradually increasing in challenge without ever getting too frustrating, hilarious dry humor from one of the wittiest, snarkiest characters ever put in a video game, and amazing credits music, this is a must-buy for any fan of puzzle games. The only complaint that comes to mind is that it's a bit short, but I enjoyed every second of the 3 and a half hours I spent playing. Now if you'll excuse me, it's on to Portal 2!
