The Ein Lacher Challenge Update

Battle bosses one-on-one in Ein Lacher, take part in a new Royal Army Raid with numerous improvements and battle your fellow mercenaries in the improved Siege PvP Match. Vindictus' latest update has arrived with plenty of toys and fun things to do for everyone, check out all of the details below!

Take the Ein Lacher Challenge
Ein Lacher is a new way to test your mastery of Vindictus. You'll have no party to carry you, no teammates to distract the enemy boss and no lesser foes to work your way through. Just you and one of the bosses of Vindictus, battling it out.

Each day, you'll have a choice of 10 Ein Lacher battles to complete, selectable from the Exploration Departure map. You have to go it alone, but you'll have a few advantages of your own. You'll be sent right to the boss, with no other foes standing in your way. If you do fall in combat, you can revive yourself for free and continue the fight.

You'll even get EXP, AP and Gold upon defeating your foe, albeit with an increasing penalty to your EXP, AP and Gold rewards after the 4th free revive. Evil Cores will also drop, however limited to the number of Evil Cores per day you can normally claim from those foes.

Defeating bosses in Ein Lacher will also reward you with up to 20 Honor Medals per day that can be exchanged for Emblems, AP and EXP potions and Seals of Bravery from the Royal Army Recruit in town, based on how commanding a performance you gave:
  • Bronze Medal: Defeat the boss while falling 3 times or less and earn an Honor Medal
  • Silver Medal: Defeat the boss without being incapacitated to earn two Honor Medals
  • Gold Medal: Defeat the boss without ever taking damage for three Honor Medals!
  • Each Medal is only awarded once for each challenge
There's even a special set of titles you can claim to show absolute proof of your abilities, for clearing the Ein Lacher battles with Bronze, Silver or Gold medals. Just don't expect these awards to come easy: The bosses of Vindictus are in no mood for games.

Improved Royal Army Raids
Group based battles aren't being left out, though. We've gone back to the Royal Army Raids and given them a series of enhancements to make them more engaging, better balanced and ultimately more fun. Two improvements are the most obvious: First, you will now be able to see the health bar for all bosses in Royal Army Raids. Second, all lower-level raid members will no longer be a handicap. All characters below level 90 will have their Health, Attack and Defense boosted to give them a fighting chance.

We've also added new rewards for completing the Royal Army Raids. Defeating the boss will reward you with one of three different Mysterious Glass Bottles. These bottles contain powerful rewards: 50 AP and a Seal of Bravery, top-tier crafting materials or even an orange-quality Weapon Essence that can be used to craft the most powerful weapons available!

Those aren't the only changes, however. In order to make it easier to find a party, only one Royal Army Raid will be available, changing each day. These raids will also start with a minimum of 10 players, at least four of whom are level 90, and up to 16 characters can take part. You also will no longer be able to use Ultimate attacks in Royal Army Raids. Oh, and there's one other little change...

The Peerless One is back for the Royal Army Raids! The Serpent King Lakoria has a powerful array of poisonous attacks, and a massive appetite. Whether swallowed whole, flung into the air to come crashing down or infected by a lethal toxin, you'll need your wits about you to stand a chance against this most massive of monsters.

Improved Siege Rewards
We've also boosted the rewards for each PvP Siege Match! With this update, everyone on the winning team will receive 12 Seals of Triumph, a 200 AP Capsule and 30,000 Gold each, while the losing team will earn 8 Seals of Triumph, a 100 AP Capsule and 20,000 Gold each.

In order to make Siege Matches more of an event, we've restricted their availability. As such, Siege matches will only occur every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday between 3:00 AM and 10:00 PM PDT (6:00 AM - 1:00 AM EDT, 8:00 PM - 3:00 PM AEST). The UI will let you know when a new match is available, so be ready to storm the castle!

Screenshot Mode

We've also added a special Screenshot mode to help you get images of your characters in the best light possible. You now have access to three independent cameras that can be positioned to follow your character around at a variety of angles and distances. While Screenshot Mode is active, every time you take a screenshot, an image will be taken from both your main camera angle and any active Screenshot Cameras.

Adjust a Screenshot Camera with the mouse: Left-Click to rotate the camera, Right-Click to strafe around with the camera and hold the Scroll Wheel to zoom in and out. These cameras will move and turn with your character, so get some great camera angles and show off your skills in style!

Mad Psycho and Manic Jester Sets

This month's update brings two new sets, the return of a classic Limited set, an array of hair, inner armor and tattoos, the triumphant return of the Premium Weapon Fusion Rune and more!

Check out the full details in the Mad Psycho and Manic Jester Sets post.

Exquisite Chest Events

It's been a year since our last Treasure Chest event, and even longer since the Fruit Fight event has been around. We're bringing both back around this month to give you a wealth of rewards no matter what you want to play. We're also easing you into the new normal for Royal Army Raids by giving you three Royal Army Raids each day for the next two weeks.

Check out the full details in the Exquisite Chest Events post.

Probably the most underrated MMORPG so far. It's dated free to play business model and NEXON have held this game back. The story is actually one of the best as far as MMORPGS go and the action combat is still feels unmatched more than half a decade later. Another issue it has is accessibility; some people may run into trouble running/starting the game or gearing/progressing. Honestly if the community grew and they started making better both publisher/developer decisions this game could still be a hit MMORPG.

Discredit all under 100 hours reviews. I'm aware of 500,000+ ♥♥♥♥♥♥ flaws this game has to offer.
THIS IS FREE TO PLAY KOREAN MMO
do not play unless you feel like enduring the grind
I hated this game until I hit 60 in season 1 (endgame) and then I continued playing it, still hated it. I kept playing for some reason, polished my skill a little, and as I got better the game became more fun, having one of the best combat systems/boss fights/classes(characters) than most games to date. It is rewarding if you dump a lot of time into it, if you're looking to display skill and experience in an mmo this game is almost perfect for it.

This game is pay to win, but you can succeed without spending a dime(still should probly spend like 5$ every once in a while on megaphones to sell loot). They do have events that cater to the community and help you out every couple of months, its pretty nice. this game has so many problems, glitches and bugs If I went through them all I would be writing a trilogy novel, some lotr tier ♥♥♥♥. So I won't, i'll just say don't play this game unless you value unique high quality combat and boss fights enough to look past a mountain of garbage.

tl;dr this game is like eating a 10 layered cake of ♥♥♥♥ and dirt, but in the middle layer there's a chocolate you've never tasted before thats either amazing or just another chocolate to you.

Great MMO game. You need a pretty good system to play it on anything above medium settings unless they optimized it more since I played. It is a high action type fighting game. The combos will take some getting use if that is not something you are accustom to. The game is played mainly in instances where you can go solo or as a group. Everything else is mainly MMO stuff. Get better gear, buy cosmetic items in store, pets, etc, etc. It has a lot to offer of which I am not going to list here. It is free to play so try it out and see if it is something you can enjoy. Sooo....enjoy the battle. :)

Really fun to play with friends but as a game it's slow and get bland.

The sound optimization is bad, the hotkeys are bad, the girls are rad.

The game becomes really fun like Monster Hunter at level 70.

Uses Source.

Played it on Nexon Launcher for a while,
uninstalled,
saw it was on Steam played it again.

Someone help this game sucks but it's fun to hit stuff and stare at the girls.
I can't stop playing this game.

Very little substance, poorly-made mechanics, and the entire "world" feels awful.

The "world" feels very limited because, to go anywhere, you warp/travel on a boat (it's a cut-scene situation). Once you've warped, you just button mash (little to no strategy of movement and fighting is necessary), then warp back to home, run in the limited village, drop stuff off (you basically button-mash and click-mash), find another person to send you on a "quest" to button-mash in another place you warp to, and repeat. Describing the game as "pointless" gives it too much credit. It has very little substance.

Their security is a totall pain! If you ever forget your first OR SECOND (seriously a second?! as if one can't be a pain at times !!!) password you are SCREWED! Its a vicious/convoluted pain to figure out how to even start a new account once you forget a password... and perhaps there is even a 3rd password. Heck why not have 100 passwords?! Its such a pain I gave up on this game entirely and will not ever deal with Nexon games ever again. If you get this game write down ALL your information in a place you wont forget. Because heaven forbid if you do!

I was a player on West server that has now quit the game entirely. I have experienced the game from 1-80, and currently have a level 80 character, as long as 60-70 for most other characters. So all of what I have to say is from experience.

Pros
Combat is engaging and skillbased.
Engine can be funny at times.

Cons
Nexon is a terrible company.
The community is full of trolls and elitists.
Economy fluctuates rapidly without rhyme or reason.
Pay2Win.
Unbalanced classes.
Early-Endgame is intimidating and unrewarding.
Progression becomes incredibly difficult.

Vindictus by definition is a Korean-made Hack 'n' Slash action game, with a choice of 8 current character classes (one upcoming) that each mostly fill a niche in the game as it stands. Storywise? The game is lacking. It's apparent that the voice acting in cutscenes are terribly synced, with zero enthusiasm whatsoever. Not to mention, it barely makes sense, it's tough to relate to any of the characters, and questing/story has devolved into a way to level up faster. As far as mechanics go, the game is amazing. Early on, the game guides you along in combat, but hits a wall in skill requirement once you begin to transition into endgame (Level 60-80). This leads to a challenging, engaging experience, as you require quite a bit of skill, and knowledge of both your character and the boss in order to succeed. Example being the solo videos out there on YouTube, which are quite impressive. Vindictus currently runs on source engine, the physics can be wonky at some times, however. With such things as clipping, or bulging polygons extending throughout the map, or a monster getting launched into space for no reason whatsoever. These can lead to much hilarity. The problems in Vindictus however, are too large for me to be able to enjoy this game anymore.

First off, let's talk about your experience from beginning to end. So you start up Vindictus. 8 characters to choose from, how exciting! Can you change their genders? Though this is something that is common in most MMOs, no. Can I change my appearance? Your options in the beginning are very limited, if you want to change up the look of your character, expect to pay $20 or more on just that. Now let's discuss the balancing of the characters, and the roles they play in Vindictus. Though this topic is very short-lived. The balancing of the game is handled very haphazardly. Currently, Hurk and Kai hold the position of godtier within the game. Where everyone else is disregarded. So if you're looking for stats, choose those two. So you've chosen your character! Time to get into the game! But wait, why don't I have any money? Well, that's because Nexon decided it would be a great idea to gut the early game by preventing gold gains from 1-25. Why? To combat botters. This is concerning however, because the earliest parts of a game are usually the most important to ensure people stay around. Surely the game will pick up right? Correct, the game does end up picking up once you are able to make some money, and have gained a general bit of knowledge about your character. Sadly, this is also when Vindictus transitions into a grindfest. Your experience at this point will consist of rushing through the "storyline", leveling up with barely any money, until you finally hit a brick-wall -- endgame. Endgame in Vindictus is atrocious. If you're not willing to expend any real currency within the level 60-80 range, don't expect to be progressing at all, unless you're incredibly lucky with drops. This is where players frequently quit, if they haven't already in the beginning. As the game becomes frustrating and unrewarding as it attempts to milk you of your money. Upgrades are incredibly hard to come by, and risks can leave you with absolutely nothing. Only the longterm players have stuck around at this point, when the game becomes a social hub for them.

The community itself is terrible. New players on the nexon forums are frequently driven away when attempting to ask questions. Which in itself is filled with trolls, and sarcastic elitists. Don't even get me started on the ingame community. Where if you don't meet the standards of the host, you can be kicked out without hesitation. So yes, the game itself is also filled with elitist jerks. Though it's to be expected out of any game, I have not seen any community similar to Vindictus in this aspect.

Now, let's talk about Nexon. Nexon is notorious for treating its players terribly. Send in a ticket? We'll answer with an automated message then get back to you after a few months. Concern about bugs and patches? There's a chance we'll even consider reading about your concerns, and if we do, it's likely we'll do nothing about it. However, here's a poorly designed event to hopefully make you forget about all of these problems. Updates? Maybe we'll release a bit of content after half a year, of course we won't tell you anything about it. Over my time with Nexon products, I'm ashamed I've stuck around with their games for so long. If Vindictus were to be handed over to another corporation, I'd gladly come back, but the way that Nexon is handling Vindictus is slowly killing the game.

TL;DR Vindictus is slowly dying. Fun for a while, but then you hit a brick wall.

Vindictus is a textbook example of how Nexon operates.
They take a well designed game, tear out content, and set up a fiendish pay2play and pay2win system.
Vindictus follows this pattern to the letter.

The game itself is rather well designed. Engaging, live action, hack and slash combat is what Vindictus is all about, and the actual gameplay is pretty fun.
However, as you'll notice fairly early on, this game is absurdly grindy, and super repetitive.
Within all the areas, the difference between one level in a certain area and another level in the same area is the boss at the end...and that's it. You'll run the same path through the same map each time, fighting the same mobs each time, and doing the same things each time, until you reach the boss, which is usually marginally different from the last. (Though most times only marginally.)

Nexon has taken great care to rip out most of the gear our friends in Korea and Europe use.
In Korea and Europe, options abound for endgame gear, which greatly reduces grind.
In NA, unfortuately, the only endgame gear option is "Everlasting" gear, which can only be obtained by finding a rare item in a raid dungeon (which you can only do 3 times per week) which has a drop rate of below 0.0000001%.
(Subsequent patches have added other gear options, but Nexon has nerfed those gear options, to perpetuate the need for Everlasting gear.)

Apparently, Nexon seems to think, "If we prevent the Americans from being able to get to the endgame and "win" they'll play forever." I am living proof of their ignorance.

And then, as a final insult, if you do manage to get the endgame gear, against all odds, your gear is worthless unless it's enhanced. Unlike many other companies, which have moved on to more player friendly enhancment models, Nexon still clings stubbornly to the age old system that threatens to destroy your items if special "protecting" items are not used.
In this case, those "protecting" items cost 25 dollars in Vindictus. 25 dollars! And what do these protecting items do?
They protect your item ONCE, and are consumed regardless of success or failure. Nexon will charge you, literally, hundreds of dollars just for enhancement alone, which is practically mandatory if you want to be able to do anything against the endgame bosses.

So basically, if you want to do ANYTHING in this game beyond just mindlessly leveling your characters, you'll need to spend hundreds and hundreds of dollars to get anywhere.

It makes me very sad, because Vindictus could have been a good game. I could have enjoyed playing Vindictus for years to come, but sadly, the evil of Nexon has corrupted yet another game...more wasted potential.

In short, Vindictus is yet another soulless machine designed to suck up as much cash as it can, and drive away anyone whos pockets aren't deep enough to keep up with its demands.

It's a bad love/hate relationship with this one. I've played longer than the 200 hours shown on Steam, but only recently attached it to my steam account.

Pros:
~Incredible combat (IT'S PRETTY F**KING EPIC REALLY) that is both satisfying and polished. Boss fights feel like boss fights,
~Good BGM, and amazing character design and customization (must be willing to spend money, although now they've added coupons and stuff from RNG boxes that could help out a bit- still must grind for gold)
~Babes all over (Shayla is BAE!!!)
~Guild Raids are fun [if your guild is still active kudos -_- ]

Cons:
~Story line is pretty bland, the NPCs are all little PNG cutouts that you click on repeatedly and feel shallow,
~Servers are crap, it doesn't matter if you have a good computer or good internet if the person hosting a raid does not or suddenly starts lagging the entire party will suffer.
~community is dissolving, now there's no need to host a party since with the new 90 gear you can super OP and easily solo bosses (granted that you have the skill)
~Very elitist, very grindy, very repetitive (especially if you have multiple characters), and okay graphics- you MUST be willing to deal with this if you wish to get to the good end-level stuff. Gold-sellers still plague the game even now when it's dying (Looking at some of the prices on the MP will shown why).
~VERY EXPENSIVE outfits and cash-shop items ($20-30 for a single outfit??? x however many characters you have that you want to look good) and there's RNG where there shouldn't be RNG- in the cash-shop (stupid Dyes!!! Just give me the colors I actually want!!!).
~Enhancing (super RNG) and is enchanting is a pain in the ♥♥♥ although now you can pay money to guarantee that Righteous or Judgement ES will work.
~Gearing up is a must since some people will kick you off a boat if you don't meet their desired attk reqs even if you're trying to farm the mats to reach that lvl (best to have a guild or friend to help)
~Cut and paste dungeons up until you get past the second season.
~No balance in PvP whatsoever, and PvP itself is almost non-existent), not much to do after raids
(Ein Lacher Challenge was recently added, but that's only for the completionists and hard-core fans- still pretty fun thou)
~Updates are slow as hell, and there's a general lack of events (Christmas 2014 was the best one ever, will probably remain the only good event we've ever truly had (bring back the Christmas defense mini-game from 2011 !!!!))

There's a reason why the playerbase in the west in dwindling, so when people defend it saying that it's not for the casuals, or those who don't want to spend money, or those who aren't willing to "no-life" this game they're right.

At this point in time, for any new players you're gonna want to find a good guild to help you out and maybe bring a friend or two along. As it is now, only the fanboys and those who've invested a lot of time and money into this game are keeping it afloat.

you know what? this game isnt for me at all. you dont make it very clear what im suppose to do on the ship. im stuck there and nothings happening. why do i have to make a party to finish a quest when the mission is very simple? why cant i just go to the boat and do what i have to do and leave? why make this difficult? and you wonder why people arnt playing this. beautiful begining though, i was like man...this game is awesome. but then i got into town to the docks and onto a boat with no objective. im lost.... very lost and your not making it simple enough. if im stuck there im not going any further because that tells me the game will get much more complicated from here on.

also in the begining, it was cool when i was battling some chics giant spider pet for no reason, but when it went to a cut scene and its running away from me climbing up a wooden and stone tower on a already crappy and condemed building. why didnt the whole place fall down when the top tower came crashing? am i missing something? did i not see holes in the floor when i was going up before the big spider fight? did i not see the entire building im walking on in crap condition? so lets say i was in a lighthouse with a rotten bottom and the top of the light house came crashing down...what do you think will happen to the bottom of the lighthouse? yeah thats right. the whole building would collapse. its whatever... enjoy your game.. im going somewhere else

I was never actually a fan of action RPG's, however this game has completely changed my stance on them. I haven't had much luck at interacting with other players, but I'm still completely new to the game. Not to mention I spent YEARS only playing Aion. I highly recomend this game though. The story is nifty, the game play is very reminiscent of Devil May Cry, and the toons are totaly drool worthy for the most part.
