Important note: If you have problems loading this game, consider installing OpenRCT2. Not only can it help you run this game (and Rollercoaster Tycoon 2), it adds many features that did not exist in the original.

This game was very fun when it first came out, and it is still fun now. Before Rollercoaster Tycoon, the best (only?) theme park sim was Theme Park. That game was decent, but Rollercoaster Tycoon was a huge step forward in the genre. The game has aged very well, and still holds up today. Whether you want to build the most elaborate coasters, build the biggest parks, or just want to drown your customers or immolate them with a coaster destined to crash in a fiery explosing, grab this game if you do not already own it.

My girlfriend asked me what's great about this game, saying all I'm doing is managing a park with roller coasters and the graphics aren't even that good.

I broke up with her.

10/10 would break up again.

In a post-apocalyptic world, you are the manager of a random (more or less) spot of land with the ability to instantly change the terrain and build Disneyland rides, and an endless population of white, brown-haired males that need to eat, drink, go to the bathroom, and be entertained. In order to survive in this unforgiving world, you must ask yourself difficult, sometimes painful, questions. Such as:

Should I create a legit coaster or something to turn people into cherry pudding?
Why will nobody go on my roller coaster I spent the last 2 hours making?
And, most crucial of all...
How did I lose all my damn money?!

Roller Coaster Tycoon. Your Decisions will shape the amusement park around you

For real, if you didn't play this game (or one of the sequels) as a kid, something went wrong in the system. Sorry to break it to ya.

I was a big fan of Rollercoaster Tycoon back in my teens, and am pleased to say this still absolutely holds up!
I purchased it and loaded it up 'just for five minutes' and before I realised it several hours had passed and I was still having a great time.

I didn't have any issues loading or running this, and it plays smooth and easy.

I would advise you put aside a chunk of time before you start playing, as 'five minutes' can quickly become two hours as you work to unlock each new park.

Highly recommend - once I've completed this one, I'll be moving on to the others!
