About This Game

The Napoleonic era was a time of political unrest and epic battles played out on an unprecedented scale. It revolutionized the organization and size of European armies through the use of levée en masse (mass conscription.) But the strength of an army finds its roots within every soldier's individual skills.

Napoleon: Total War Imperial Edition on Steam includes the exclusive "Heroes of the Napoleonic Wars" pack. This pack gathers the most superb infantry and cavalrymen who fought during the great Napoleonic battles: 10 exclusive units, which will all make a difference during key engagements, whether using formidable weapons or exceptional tactical skills.

These exclusive elite units become available on the campaign map once you have made a specific technological advancement or own the relevant territory.

The following elite units are included as part of the Napoleon: Total War Imperial Edition on Steam. These elite units will appear in both single and multiplayer game modes.

7th Lancers (France) — These cavalrymen are armed with lances that make them particularly deadly when charging. The lance allows the user to put all his weight, and that of his charging horse, behind one very sharp point.

Brandenburg Uhlans (Prussia) — They are some of the most experienced cavalrymen in Europe and can persuade their steeds into breathtaking acts of speed.

1st Hussars (Austria) — The 1st Hussars are, without exception, superb horsemen, and all have a certain independence of spirit that makes them ideal for chasing down widely scattered men.

15th Hussars (Great Britain) — The 15th Hussars are made up of veteran cavalrymen, deadly in close combat and at the charge. Their speed makes them ideal for chasing down skirmishers and for dealing with artillery units.

1st East Prussian Grenadier Battalion (Prussia) — Only the largest, bravest men can become grenadiers; this size and strength makes them an impressive sight in a charge, and gives them an edge in melee.

6th Regiment d'Infanterie Légère (France) — Historically, the 6th Regiment saw action in over forty battles during the Napoleonic Wars and were awarded seven battle honours for their achievements.

17th Jäger Regiment (Russia) — Able to fight in loose skirmish formation or fire a massed volley when organised in line, the Jägers are an adaptable response to enemy tactics.

1st Regiment Emperor's Own (Austria) — The 1st Regiment “Emperor’s Own” is made up of battle-hardened Czech troops, as deadly with their bayonets as they are excellent marksmen.

18th Regiment d'Infanterie de Ligne "The Brave" (France) — The 18th Regiment are revered by their fellow countrymen, who know them as "The Brave." They are experienced soldiers and that makes them valuable on the battlefield.

Moscow Musketeers (Russia) — Formed into a disciplined line, they can unleash a massed volley into an enemy then, while the enemy is reeling, follow it with a decisive bayonet charge.

I got this game, I have not played it very much, but I do have one story for you. Gather round children.

I though, "Yeah, I've studied the Napoleonic wars, I'll be good at this game!" so I hopped on multiplayer.

At first I thought I would be good.

I lost all of my Cavalry and most of my Infantry within fifteen minutes. The only reason I was still alive was because of my artillery.

Then I realized something: I was going to be Wellington. I was going to recover and route all of his infantry.

With the rest of my Line infantry, I ran, leading them into my artillery on a hill. With a combination of cannister shot and Volleys, they were breaking. Then, his cav charged and killed most of my infantry.

But I have forgotten about three units.
Three units that I had moved into the trees at the start of the round and forgotten about.
My rifles.

I quickly moved my rifles into position. They quickly killed many of his militia, causing a route. His cav tried killing them, buy my riflemen were not fazed. They killed almost all of the cav as they charged. When they met my brave riflemen, we lost one man. His cav was dead by my brave riflemen.

Then, in a last ditch effort, he sent in his Grenadiers. His elite infantry against my rifles. They outnumbered them, and they were stronger.

But my Brave riflemen did not run. They fired on them from afar, then, without giving the grenadiers a chance to recover, the brave riflemen, who were full with energy, charged against the tire, wavering grenadiers.

My brave riflemen killed all of the Grenadiers.

The brave riflemen, the last men on the battlefield, the only men to have not routed or died, had won the battle.

Heroic Victory.

10/10, would forget about riflemen then say ♥♥♥♥ it and charge again.

I never played many TW games, but I think it's one of the best. Medieval II was great, but graphics and animations... Rome II is the second best, but imo Rome is more simple than NTW cuz there aren't any powder weapons. Can't say anything about Shogun II, haven't seen any gameplays. When I buy the game, the most important things are: graphics, story and mechanics. This game has good graphs, story is also very good AND the mechanics are great. NTW gets even better when u install some mods (Darthmod - great mod, you can play every faction you want! I recommend Poland, hard to get good relationship with Königreich Preußen and Erzherzogtum Österreich while making the best choice - attacking Российская империя, especially Vilnius). If you love history of Europe, I really recommend this game, but be aware: you can't family share this game (or at least I can't :<)!

The game itself is fun for the first 30 hours. After that is just feels hollowed out and empty; unless you install some mods like Genius realism mod, Darth mod, the zulu war mod, the American civil war mod, or the great war mod.

I LOVED Empire total war, not knowing why everyone hated it but playing another Total War game changed my view. Napoleon is basically a upgraded Emprie Total war forward a tiny bit in time with America and India completely removed with a focus on Europe. The large map size is very good for strategy but frustating to stategise a defense.

If you are new to total war, GET THIS ONE. Every soldier on the battlefeild is accounted for, with annimations, ragdoll etc. This series is one of the best TBS game series around.

7/10

Napoleon Total war like a polished verison of Empire total war, much more focues on the European theatre, battles feel like they are later in teh century and armys are more diverse. Charges and artilery seem more realstic and hand to hand combat flows smooth.

10/10

Can I actually play battle mode on this or does SEGA not realise that this game is heavily broken? It hardcrashes my system into a reboot and from what I've seen there is no easy fix (went on discussion boards etc and you have to enable regedit etc and manually delete some files from windows its utter autism)
