This is the best out the 3 eXceed games. To be honest, the first one was pretty bad, and the second one was so so. If you are interested in this series at all, this is the one to get. It's nothing crazy or very original, but it's a good bullet hell game and worth a few bucks. The bullet patterns are a lot of fun and great practice for other bullet hell games. If you are new to the genre, this is a great, inexpensive way to start and test the genre out. If you are looking for something to hold you over until the next Cave release, this is a good bet too. Enjoy!

This game is decent. Decent meaning "not bad."

I was kind of on the fence about recommending this. Don't get me wrong, it isn't a bad game, it just is really, really, really average. The art is average. The level design is average. The patterns are average.
The music, while rockin', doesn't fit perfectly in my opinion and is also kind of average.

It gets pretty fun at times, but the overall experience felt average.
Patterns also can occasionally get really cheap *cough* stage 5 *cough* and unfair.

Ok, enough negative. Why did I recommend this game?
-Fun enough danmaku
-low price
-substantial challenge
-good mechanics

Try it if you want, if you like shmups, you'll probably like it :)

I hate fun so I buy these bullet hell to torment myself with and drown in sprays of bullets because they're super fast and I deserve to die for playing these.
It's like Touhou or Ikaruga. those are like Space Invaders, except the screen is made of bullets and tears are streaming down your face because you keep dying because there are so many bullets.
The patterns are pretty.

Super fun bullet hell game. Also super short. I played it twice on easy in an hour. It has some great training wheels (autobomb and show hit box) that still lets you get the crazy bullet experience while feeling like you are a god of reflexes. 5 levels, 4 difficulties, lots of replay value. GREAT soundtrack.

Much better than the previous games in the series.

This is a solid bullet hell shooter with some interesting bullet patterns and flashy visuals.

This game really EXCEEDed my expectations.

It does everything a bullet hell shmup needs to do.

It's beautiful, it offers frantic action, it has creative bullet patterns.

The music is excellent offering some rad tunes, it's some METAL stuff.

The gameplay offers a bullet grazing system that charges your special attack. Said special attack is useful to clear the screen of the weaker enemies, which in turn increases your score multiplier which gives you more lives. In short, a fast paced game that rewards boldness and skill.

Of special note is how freaking awesome the bosses are. They scream crazy japanese nonsense throughout the entire fight to the sound of rad tunes all the while insane bullet patterns dance all around the screen.

Definitely give this one a try if you like bullet hell shmups. And if you don't, give it a try too because it might be the game that introduces you to how incredible the genre can be.

The third (and so far final) game in the eXceed series, Jade Penetrate Black Package is 100% fan service. From the outrageous number of bullets that fill the screen, to the cute girls wearing compromising clothing, it knows what it is and who it's targeted to, and that is actually a good thing.

Opting to refine not redefine it's basic gameplay, eXceed 3rd ditches the 2nd game's color swapping mechanic in favor of simple raw shoot-em-up action. There is some depth to be found in utilizing a lock on move that cuts down your movement speed, but generally speaking you'll be holding down the shoot button and just trying to stay alive through the torrent of blue and read particles blowing up around you.

Despite being simpler than its immediate predecessor, this is easily the most enjoyable and satisfying of the series. The overly dramatic story proves unintentionally hilarious, the graphics 16-bit eye candy, and the soundtrack once again setting the bar for games in this genre (really, it's incredible). The one downside is that it's quite short even for a bullet-hell game, but given the high difficulty even on easy, there's the potential for lots of replayability as you improve and take on the higher levels.

If you've enjoyed either of the prior eXceed games, or just like bullet-hell shooters in general you can't go wrong with Jade. This is the culmination of everything the developer has worked toward with the eXceed games, and as far as I'm concerned the best of the lot. It might be traditional in design, and perhaps even exploitative in nature, but taken for what it is I'd find it hard not to recommend it for fans. Because again that's what it is: pure unadulterated fan service of the best kind!

I'd say that this is a must buy for every danmaku fan that has a Steam account.
The gameplay is fun and challenging, the graphics are pretty good too and the music is absolutely fantastic.
I'd say that it's a 8.5/10, at least it is for me.

And it's cheap, so if you like the Touhou series, Ikaruga, Deathsmiles or even DoDonPachi you won't get disappointed.

Rendering is broken, there is solid black box around sprites. I have HD530/960M but from reading online it seems it will probably be broken on all laptops using Nvidia Optimus.

Also cannot configure shift key for slow shot, only alphabet keys.

I think that is lazy programming.
