Twitch Integration

A new kind of collaborative bridge-building experience is now possible with our Twitch Integration!

Twitch
Twitch is a live streaming video platform, allowing anyone to broadcast their game-play sessions and for an audience to watch the stream and participate in a chat.

We took it a step further and created a web-based version of Poly Bridge that allows viewers of a Twitch stream to take part in the building process itself!

A new kind of viewer experience
Viewers are no longer restricted to the chat-box, instead use an in-browser version of the game to build along with the streamer, submitting their suggestions on what and how to build

For Streamers
Poly Bridge lets the streamer play at their own pace and control how the interaction works, allowing for a tailored and entertaining viewer experience

To find out more on how to use the integration in-game or to find live a stream to participate in, head over to http://twitch.drycactus.com

1.0.4 Patch

Another day, another patch!
In today's patch we introduce some small improvements requested by players, as well as fixing a few minor bugs and tightening security around leaderboard submissions.

New launch parameters
Two new launch parameters have been added:
  • -noscaling : prevents the UI from automatically scaling since it can cause issues on some Linux multi-monitor setups
  • -nobackground : prevents the game from running in the background since it can cause GPU over-use on some setups

Grid changes
As requested by a few players, disabling grid-snapping will no longer entirely hide the grid, but rather make it more transparent, allowing you to still maintain the visual guides for symmetry but not forcing you to build on-grid.
The game will now also correctly remember your grid settings between play-sessions.

Leaderboard cheating
We've implemented more client-side checks to minimize submissions from hackers, and are almost finished with our automated tool to monitor leaderboards 24/7 and ban offending players.
A reminder that we use a server-side shadow-banning system, more info at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stealth_banning

Bug fixes
  • Fixed exploit on Wrecking Ball vehicle which allowed 'cheated' solutions to 100m level
  • Line tracer would occasionally crash when filling with segments of 1.0m length
  • Some minor bugs with the Twitch integration

In keeping with the tradition here's a cool picture from our artist Javier

And as always a big thank you to all our players for providing feedback, bug reports and great ideas to improve the game!

About This Game

Unleash your engineering creativity with an engaging and fresh bridge-building simulator with all the bells and whistles.
Enjoy hours of physics-based puzzle solving in the Campaign and then jump in the Sandbox to create your own bridge designs and puzzles.
Challenge friends and the rest of the Steam Workshop community to solve your puzzles and download more levels submitted by other players.

Check out the Online Gallery at http://gallery.drycactus.com !

Enjoy hours of bridge-building fun with loads of levels to solve, ranging from simple light car bridges to multi-deck draw-bridges and jumps, just to name a few!
Levels get increasingly challenging from the engineering aspect and restrictions are also imposed on the resources you can use to build your bridge.

What would an awesome bridge-builder game be without an equally awesome Sandbox?
Go wild and create the most complex bridge the world has ever seen, or just an absurd creation that pushes the mechanics of the game in a new direction, and if you're feeling like it publish your design online as a puzzle level on the Workshop for everyone to try and solve!

Download hundreds of extra levels from the Workshop!
We'll also be featuring the most original and fun bridge designs that are submitted, making it easier for you to find the ones that are worth the challenge.

One of our favorite features of the game!
Save a super cool looking animated GIF of your bridge in all its glory (or failure!) and save it locally, upload it to the Poly Bridge Online Gallery and/or share it Twitter, Facebook, Reddit or Tumblr without ever leaving the game!

I bought this game for my son, its a wonderfuly educational but fun way to learn about applied physics, you build the bridge/ramp/lift what ever and run the simulation to see if it works, couple that with the leveling up part of the game and its rather intriguing, or if your more of a free spirit you can do the sand box mode and make problems for yourself to solve, not only do you see if the bridge works but you can also see the stress points and work on and improve upon your design, and remember as my seven year old now says "triangles are your friends" lol

Early Access Review
Posted: July 19, 2015
EDIT: After talking with the devs here on Steam about bugs and suggestions, I now feel that this game has one of the best, most friendly developing teams around. It's so great to see the developers take a real interest in what the players have to say, and it makes me feel like I'm being a part of the development myself. Definitely worth supporting to help an awesome team make a great game!

---Original Review---
Though it's still Early Access, Poly Bridge offers a fun and unique enough experience to make up for the bugs. And yes, there are quite a few bugs. Here's a nice pros/cons list to look at:

Pros
  • Nice cartoonish graphics
  • Fun gameplay
  • Fairly realistic physics
  • Gif sharing
  • Level creator

Cons
  • Bugs in level creator
  • Gifs get cut off in longer levels
  • A few minor glitches in campaign

The gameplay is very fun, and I love the fact that there is no single "correct" solution. This game not only allows creativity, but it actually requires creativity because there are no guidelines at all, just some materials that you can use and a budget you can't go over. Overall, I would say that Poly Bridge is definitely a game that's worth supporting, and it's one to look out for once it gets fully released. As an Early Access game, I recommend it with a warning that you will be dealing with some bugs and glitches, mostly in the sandbox mode (level creator). The gameplay is very fun and extremely addicting, and there are already quite a few player-made maps available on the Steam workshop that add to the fun. The level creator itself is fairly easy to use, but the bugs make it very difficult to actually make a complete level. To be honest, I've spent most of my time in-game fighting with the level creator because it's just so damn fun to use, but it frequently locks up and I have to restart the game, and sometimes it won't save the level I'm working on. So if you can deal with a few bugs and want to support a really fun game, go ahead and grab it, but if you want a fully polished game with no glitches, skip the Early Access and wait until it's fully released.

PS - the one thing that drew me to this game the most is the integrated .gif creator. After every level, you have the option of sharing a .gif replay, which is a ton of fun. The only problem with the .gif creator is that it has an undisclosed time limit on your replays, so it will frequently cut off the early section of the replay. To fix that, just hit "try again" and then finish the level on a higher speed.
