About This Game

In the dark days of the end of World War Two amidst the ruins of Berlin, one bullet can change history…

Sniper Elite V2 is an award-winning and authentic World War II sniping experience. You are elite US sniper Karl Fairburne. Parachuted into Berlin amidst the Germans’ final stand, your mission is to prevent Nazi V2 rocket program technology from falling into the hands of the besieging Red Army. You must aid key scientists keen to defect to the US, and terminate those who would help the Russians.

Take advantage of authentic weaponry, learn how to stalk your targets, fortify your position, set up the shot, use your skill, patience and cunning to achieve your mission. Stealth gameplay is the key as you find yourself trapped between two desperate armies in a race against time.

Watch as the celebrated ‘bullet cam’ from Sniper Elite returns, bloodier and more gruesome than ever – skilful shots are rewarded with a slow-motion flight of the bullet, then targets are graphically rendered in X-Ray as the bullet enters and destroys your victim. Organs shred, bones splinter, teeth shatter, as the true impact of the sniper’s bullet is brought to life.

As World War Two ends and the Cold War begins, every shot counts. Use it wisely.

Key features:

  • Sniping Simulation - Sniper Elite V2 features detailed sniping simulation with advanced ballistics, taking into account gravity, wind, velocity, bullet penetration, aim stability and more. Guaranteed to provide players with the most realistic simulation of military sharpshooting yet available.
  • X-Ray Kill Cam - Amazing ‘kill cam’ technology showcases what really happens when a bullet enters an enemy’s body, allowing players to see hearts and lungs tear, livers burst, and bones shatter.
  • Authenticity - The game features authentic World War II Berlin locations as well as vehicles, weapons such as the Springfield M1903 the Gewehr 43 and the Mosin-Nagant 1891/30, and uniforms modeled after the original versions.
  • Use the Environment - The slightest changes in the environment need to be taken into account to move into the perfect position, observe the quarry, take the shot and slip away unnoticed.
  • Sniper's Choice - Players will often find themselves facing a choice of the perfect shot that leaves them catastrophically exposed or a more difficult route that means they can continue their mission.
  • Multiplayer Game Types - Team Deathmatch, Deathmatch, Team Distance King, Distance King, Team Dogtag Harvest, Dogtag Harvest and Capture the Flag.

New Content Available For Your Game!

Since its release, Sniper Elite V2 has been continually supported by Rebellion, adding new features and content - including an additional 10 free multiplayer maps.

Four additional single-player mission packs are available for purchase, including the ultimate sniping mission - Kill Hitler. Each DLC pack also contains 2 new authentic weapons for your arsenal.

This game is not a bad game, and its built on a solid premise, but theres quite a bit that the other reviewers do not tell about. So please read this knowing that it only means to highlight some things about the game.

First off, this is a sniping sim played through a third person shooter lense, but it is not "Realistic" its "Arcade" The most you can have is wind and gravity, for many gamers this is much more than their normal sniping experience, but it is still very watered down. The game plays in one of two ways, either its "Stealth mode" where you get a little indicator that bombs are falling and can cover the sound of your shooting, or you basically play zombie survival with enemy soldiers, every ten feet a new wave comes. Its not very sniper-y, youll spend most of the game in the streets of Germany, where no one with half a brain would stick around (as in no sneaking into buildings or picking your path, the game forces it on you)

Another important point is there is almost no sniper versus sniper strategy. You die in two shots from an enemy sniper, so poke your head out, take the shot, learn where they are, wait 15 seconds for your health to come back, peek back out and empty your clip in their direction. If theres more than one sniper, youll die in the two shots and have to restart the spot hoping that the random sniper spawn changes. The enemy snipers also spawn at predetermined times, so you cannot look through your scope at the next area looking for enemies, you literally HAVE to walk in and get shot at to find them in almost every situation.

Again, the game is not bad, its a great sniper game for people who think basic wind and gravity are "Hard". The story also is not bad, it's a ww2 setting so it's hard to stand out but it manages to keep ones attention.

Overall, it's good for a few hours of fun. The sniping, especially in the stealth portions, is fun, and the killcam part makes it more exciting to get crazy kills like Richochets or long distance headshots. That being said, the distances you shoot at with the rifles you use, in reality, would have very little if any bullet drop. The longest shot i took thus far was about 5 blocks away.

Review is still positive because what the game promises is there, and it is fun! But keep in mind what you are buying, this is not a hardcore snipers game, this is an arcade style ww2 shooter. When the game wants you to be stealthy, it lets you know, when it doesnt, you dont have the choice to be.

Good campaign, good storyline, graphics are great and the settings that take place in this game are good. One major problem is the multiplayer is kind of clunky feeling, with very less people playing daily. If you want to use this game for practicing to snipe in other games, by all means go ahead, but don't expect the multiplayer to be so great. I would rate this game 7/10

Given how frequently new instalments in the Call of Duty and Battlefield series are churned out, there's a risk that the gaming world will soon grow tired of the military shooter. As enjoyable as these titles can be, some are starting to feel the genre is growing stale. Sniper Elite V2 is a game that could potentially set that right, offering a refreshingly tactical take on warfare simulation.

Rebellion Developments has strived to plant players directly in the shoes of a frontline sniper with this third-person shooter. It's all about moving around in the shadows, creating diversions and calculating the perfect shot down to the finest detail. The game will certainly find favour with those who value realism over arcade action, but it's not for everyone.

Sniper Elite V2 is essentially a reimagining of its 2005 predecessor, set within the same time frame, with a different spin on events. The game takes place in a battle-ravaged Berlin in the closing days of World War II, with players controlling a US officer dropped into the city to stop the Russians from poaching the Nazi's top scientists.

The storyline runs only surface-deep, though newsreel-style cut scenes and effective voice acting help capture the Zeitgeist of war-torn Europe. In-game backdrops aren't too shabby either. Those rubble-strewn streets and burnt out buildings look glorious at the higher resolutions, and are functional environments where gameplay is concerned.

Missions see players venture behind enemy lines on their lonesome, with only their wits and arsenal as allies. It starts out stealthy and tense as you creep by enemy patrols in search of a suitable vantage point to pick off your target from. Infiltration is a delicate game, and once your sniper's cover is blown, you're unlikely to last very long.

A submachine gun, a silenced pistol and a trusty sniper rifle are the tools of your trade, although other weapons can be picked up later on. There's also a range of explosives on offer that must be used tactically if you want to get out of war-torn Berlin alive. Trip mines can be affixed to the threshold of a doorway to cover your escape, while proximity mines are useful for booby trapping enemy corpses.

Every step you take and every bullet you fire must be carefully calculated in Sniper Elite V2. If you're not fleeing from the scene of an assassination, you'll either be crouch-walking or crawling along the ground since loud footsteps give away your position. This will certainly make the game a no-go for those who prefer swifter-paced action affairs, but as far as the stealth fans are concerned, it's an authentic experience.

Firing stray shots from cover to create a diversion usually pays dividends, as do shrewd takedowns with a silenced pistol bullet. The idea is to come and go like the wind, never giving away your location.

Infiltration is an integral part of the game, but the assassination set pieces are the meat of the experience. Finding the perfect spot to take aim from is only half the battle. There are a lot of variables to take into account when pulling off the perfect shot, such as distance, wind resistance, and even your rate of exhalation.

Pulling off an effective kill gives rise to an immense feeling of satisfaction, heightened by the bullet-cam depiction of your handiwork, which shows your target's internal organs being ruptured via an x-ray effect.

While these segments show off Sniper Elite V2 at its very best, they also highlight one of its biggest drawbacks. While enemy AI can be lethal if you blow your cover, its movement patterns and behaviour are thoroughly predictable. Picking them off from a safe distance is not unlike shooting fish in a barrel. Even on the higher difficulty settings where guard patrols will come at you in force, their attack strategy is enough to make one of Darth Vader's stormtroopers blush.

The solo campaign offers around 10 hours of gameplay, and can be played co-operatively online to pad it out further. A selection of multiplayer modes provides further mileage, along with some unique twists on the military shooter formula. Overwatch mode is the standout offering, casting one player in the role of a sniper providing support for a ground level companion as they complete a range of objectives.

In closing, Sniper Elite V2 does a lot of things right. The tactical components have been well thought out, despite predictable enemy AI upsetting the balance somewhat. Minor issues aside, headshot enthusiasts and stealth fans will find much to love here.

In my opinion this game really is underrated. It's a great sniper game. Probably one of the best currently available. It might be third person, but that doesn't take away the cool sniping feel. It's also the only game that has X-ray killcams. Looks so awesome. It also has great co-op. Really a game worth getting whenever it's on sale.

Great sniper gameplay accompanied by a stereotypical and dry story line.

Voice actors are pretty accurate but the dialogue is lack luster.

Overall, it is a good game to play and had a very fun multiplayer mode back when it was popular.

Since I'm very interested in snipers as a special force and world war stuff I thought I give this game a try. The previous reviews suggested that this game should be "the true sniper experience". Well... I can't confirm that. Don't get me wrong, the mechanics for sniper rifles and the ballistic parts are pretty nice. If you play on the hardest game mode you need to know what you are doing to hit the target. Kill animations are cool as well. So the game tries to give you a realistic experience but then you get to the story and the whole level design. Just a few missions in and you'll recognize that this game is just another MURICA F*#$ YEAH game. Basically you are a one man army defeating thousands of Germans und Russians. I don't think I need to mention that snipers aren't used that way but I guess that's just part of the american propaganda bs about WWII. In this game you need to infiltrate secret facilities and sneak around in destroyed cities. For the most part this feels like playing a James Bond like character that also uses a sniper rifle. I think I could live with this kind of stuff if only the sneak parts and close combat wouldn't totally SUCK! Yes you have a silenced gun BUT you can only aim in third person and the crosshair is bigger than your mum’s meat wallet. This of course leads to missed shots and a LOT of frustration, because you alert the enemies and you can basically get out your MP and go on a Rambo like killing spree. Needing to sneak through some sections is a nice idea and it fits the story but your setup for this is so poorly executed and it is so infuriating if the stupid game mechanic of the silenced gun ruins the whole level. Why put such great sniper mechanics in the game and miss out on the other guns? This decision is beyond me.
But here comes the best part of the game:
You encounter some tanks and you know what? You can kill them. WITH A SNIPER RIFLE. Not only that this is impossible but the way how you kill those tanks is so ridiculous. You shoot on their "fuel tanks". Just listen to me on this one: The part you shoot at on the Tiger H 1 tank is NOT the fuel tank but the exhaust pipe. God damn I can't believe how stupid this is. Of course the Russian T 34 really had some fuel depots on the outside of the tank but they were for reserve and wouldn't explode if you shoot them. You know I have no Problem with fighting a tank in a sniper game, but they could have handled it so much better. Why not use a Molotov like the Russians really did in WWII? No you need to shoot on the tank to make it explode. Like that wouldn't get the attention of the other soldiers. This game tries to be a stealth game but ultimately it aims to throw endless hordes of enemies at you, which is annoying because as a sniper you are not very well equipped for this kind of battle. Go figure. It is disappointing that the producers decided to sacrifice the nice sniping mechanics for the sake of explosions and a lot of PEW PEW.
For a game that wants to be a sniper game it focuses not enough on the position snipers had and have in an army. If they would have studied how snipers operate it could have been a really nice game. But even if we stay on the actual game, it has major flaws aside from the sniper parts.
So I can't recommend it unleast you don't care much about historical correctness or being an american supersoldier (AGAIN) who reks everything and everyone in big fashion.

For some reason my computer can't run this game without crashing and I meet "Above" the minimum requirments stated in the system requirments on this page. Fortunatly I got a hold of a better computer for a short time and really liked the game although I would like it to be less tidius in some places it was fun watching the x-ray vision and slowmo but to me that was a one trick pony for this game.
