Matchmaking

Before, high ranking players would first look for another high rank and if can't fine within X seconds then fall back to find any match.

We have now kept the pools separate with no fall back so you might wait a little longer but be matched with someone closer to your rank.

Also, the default weapon class is GOOD ENOUGH to win. Alternative weapons have their own drawbacks but open up alternate play styles.

enjoy

A Strategic Tactical Action Shooter
https://youtu.be/E7POXDIlJWI
+ Very tactical gameplay as each unit has unique weapons and abilities which forces you to play each one a certain way in order to take advantage of their strengths and weaknesses.
+ Gameplay is very fluid and allows you to easily see where you made a mistake and how to correct it next time
+ Easy to learn and quite fun to play once you understand what you are doing
+ The planning phase is quite in depth and allows you to make precise movements like peeking out behing a wall to throw a smoke grenade without getting your head blown off by a sniper.
+ Multiplayer

This game is in Early Access so don't take these too seriously
- The tutorial was a bit too long and could be condensed
- I felt like some of the missions were too short, and some could even be combined together
- I feel like there needs to be more story elements in the early levels
#Discussions_QuoteBlock_Author
Devoloper Response:Further missions have exactly what you are saying. 8th or so mission is hostage rescue followed by escort. There are other missions where you assassinate people, protect s bomb from being defused using silenced snipers. Etc.

Special Tactics Online is a tactical/ strategy shooter with addictive gameplay.
This game now in Early Access, but in this stage its also can keep your mind for couple hours.

The gameplay is turn based you sent orders for your squad what contain a four member, after that when you end own turn your opponent do same. In a multiplayer the players have 50 second in each turn, in other modes time is not limited. In a game you can found five different classes, all has different features. You also can use in every round one type of booster (from four available) and you can use three different grenades types. At the moment game has 7 maps, but this amount will be grow up in the future. Also you can change a weapons of your squad members. You can buy weapons, on the store, what you can earn playing, survival mode, and multiplayer.
Control is well solved, you can lean this enough fast with basic tactic elements in well complected tutorial.

Game have a three modes: campaign, survival and multiplayer. In a campaign you should try complete the current missions , the missions are various, for example your main objective can be a kill a target, save hostage etc.
In a survival mode, your objective is to defuse a bomb in so many rounds how you can and hit bigger points. In every round the enemies number grooving and they improve their tactic. Also if you complete extra challenge you can earn more points.
In a multiplayer you play with another player, in this mode one player main objective is to plant the bomb, in this time the other player should try defuse it.

The graphic is well designed and looks good. Sounds are good, and music to. Game also have a leaderboards and replay saving feature.

So my verdict

+Deep tutorial
+Leaderboards
+Addictive gameplay
+Cross-Platform multiplayer
+Deep tactical system
+However its a Early Access, it have enough content right now

-At the moment is hard to find an opponent in multiplayer
-Only one game mode in multiplayer
-No steam achievements and trading cards

I think this game is very promising, its in Early Access, but from the start have enough content what in future be even more. The gameplay is interesting, can keep you mind for longer time. The biggest minus in the moment maybe that, game is less know, so in a multiplayer is very hard to find a opponent, but the developers today released the demo where a multiplayer is available, so this probably resolve the problem with active online players.

If you like Door Kickers or Breach & Clear you should really like this game.

+Great price
+50 Levels of Singleplayer mode on about 8 maps.
+Multiplayer if you are into that, although it may take awhile to find a match.
+Thorough training mode to learn the tricks and ropes.
+Good turn based tactical combat.
+Early access so more to come.

-Didn't see upgrade system, although maybe not necessary since you get some good gear-grenades from the start.
-Lacks a bit of movement on maps at times.
-Graphics are fairly basic and could be improved.

Legit this game is basically turn based counter strike. Hella fun. I 1v1 my freind on it a lot too. Played the Ipad version before I knew it was on steam. I have this glitch where All the text just appears as boxes which is annoying, but It is still a hella fun game and so worth it.

EDIT: Game developer even contacted me and helped me to fix the glitch in a few days total. Even gave me a sneak peek on what the next update holds :)

Counterstrike + Doorkickers = STO.

This game is good. It has turn-based tactical combat, an CSGO style multiplayer and a cool campaign.
I've been in contact with the developers, giving feedback, and they have been very appreciative.

So, this game is good. Solid 7/10. Maybe an 8/10 if they continiue updating etc.. :)

Pro: I actually beat the Dev at his own game :D

Bought the game mainly for the multiplayer.
As a Recruit I've been matched against Elite and Master ranked players 23(!) times in a row. Then I gave up...
You don't stand a chance against them. They have more experience and way higher equipment to compete with.
It's a no for me.

My Personal Rating for this game: 8/10

Special Tactics is an amazingly in-depth game. Looking at it head on may not seem like the best thing to do but when you go into the gameplay more, you'll find every decision you make can and will change the outcome of each single player mission.

The tutorial paves a fantastic route for new players to get into the game.

Game Engine wise, it will and CAN play on almost EVERY system (unless you're playing on a really crappy potato machine)

The game has many different mechanics from grenade deployment, boosters (this are free every round. No IAPs), movement, vision tracking and more. The mechanics may look simple but you will slowly and gradually get used to it and find out you can do a lot of more complicated plan adjustment.

Multiplayer seems to be dead at least from my standpoint

The game itself does not look great and may disappoint some of you guys out there (I know I am a bit disappointed at the graphics).

It is priced at a cheap $10.50 but till now, I don't feel like I have my full money's worth just yet. This is probably due to me playing a lot of value based games instead of this. Yes, I paid the full price in case anyone was wondering.

This game is really interesting, it take back the principles of a good tactic game with the elements of CS.
The parts multiplayers will never be alike because the composition of the team of your enemy will almost never be the same.
And we have an active developer it's perfect for this game which is a promoter.Nothing is overpowed all classe have him désaventages.
It's a good game.

This game is quite fun for being in early access and I would say it's quite worth the money.

Pros:
-The game has a very good tutorial, which makes it easy to learn
-It has a pretty fun campaign
-The multiplayer is also quite fun and even more fun if you play with a friend.
-No lag / connection issues in multiplayer so far

Cons:
-You can't type whatever you'd like to say in multiplayer. (There's a box where you choose phrases to say)

That's pretty much the only con I've found so far.

Can't figure out why this game has possitive reviews. The movement and combat mechanics are clunky and awkward. The animations are stiff and these "tactical" characters unload an entire magazine each turn into an enemy when they attack. Door Kickers and Breach & Clear already did everything this game does but better.

This game is okay if you have a friend or two to play against with
Though I have to warn you that the developer is a bit lazy and he is currently taking a break from programming =(
so don't expect any new updates and other fancy stuff

But this is a damn good strategy game, go for it if you are really into strategy games

An interesting way to make a real time game "turn-based". I quite enjoy it, it's just a shame there's few players. I highly recommend if you have a friend who will play with you, or if you don't mind the endless survival modes in games (single player), but otherwise you might have to hold off until the playerbase increases. Hard to find a ranked match, and unranked is only with friends.

Very good game, and very fun. My only complaint is the matchmaking which tends to pitch me (a level 2 noob :3) against level 100 people. It's rather frsutrating as they have a lot more experiance in the game and have therefore learnt what tactics work good and really know how to utilise their guys properly. They also have much better gear an will shred me to pieces.

There's no point in saying "git gud" or "use better tactics" because the fact of the matter is: I only have a few hours on the game, and the people I usually fight have a few hundred hours. Kind of unfair don't you think?

Still, this is a really fun game and tho the matchmaking can screw you over, I have had a few cases where I destroyed a high level player simply by playing better than them. I definately reccomend this to anyone who likes tuen based tactical games.
