New Advisors! - October Update

October Update - New Advisors, a couple of shortcuts and fixes

Hey! It's been a while since the last update but today you will see a couple of new things in the game.

Choose your advisor

Now you will be able to pick your favorite advisor to assist while you build our city!

Apart from SUP, now you can play with Don, Peppy and Heelaree.

Each one has his own power up for your city, Don makes the military more effective, Heelaree makes emergency helicopters faster and Peppy, he just wants to play with you and make unhappy feelings go away.

Scroll and Zoom with the keyboard

Now you can pan your city view using the directional keys in your keyboard, as well as , and . to zoom in and out.

Autosave

Now the game autosaves Free Build and Scenarios every 10 seconds. Everytime you leave your city, it will be saved so that you can continue building it some other time or if the game crashes. Beware that you cannot leave the game without saving, so it is kind of permadeath of your city if you lost.

There have been numerous bug fixes and balance tweaks to the game. Please report any bugs you may encounter.

Have fun!

Fernando

9-25 More and more Bug Fixes!

Hey! After some reviews and comments by players I made a couple of fixes and changes to the game mechanics.

Some of the changes in the game are:

- Block merging now is more tolerant. It is easier to make mega blocks now.

- Emergency helicopters now do not need to go back to their headquarters. In a future update I will add the option to build several stations, but now you can place your helis wherever you want and they won't return back home leaving far away from a disaster zone.

- When you unlock a Special Building, you are not forced anymore to place it. Now you can continue building whatever you were building and choose when you want to build the Special Building in order to raise your height limit.

- Mission "Towered Blocks" is the most difficult one and was moved to the last spot in the list. Also, the inspector is now available as well as trees and terraces that will make that mission a lot easier (some players might find that their progress is messed up, as the last mission will be unlocked and the second and third not, just play mission "Power to the People" again in order to unlock the "Rich & Poor" mission).

I'm glad to read more feedback from players to make BalanCity a better and more enjoyable game!

yours truly,

Fernando Cordoba

“I don’t really know why BalanCity exists, but I’m glad it does. I mean, look at this. It’s goofy as hell.”

About This Game

BalanCity is a city building / balance physics game. It's a mixture between old school SimCity and Jenga. You must build the tallest towering city over a balancing platform while keeping your citizens happy.

You can build residences, offices, power plants, train stations, airports, landmarks and more.

Beware of disasters, as your city will eventually face doom in the form of fires, earthquakes, meteor strikes, UFO attacks, monsters and more!

Will your city survive the test of balance? See it for yourself!

Game modes:

  • Free Build: A sandbox where your only limit is gravity.
  • Missions: Levels that have a goal to achieve and limited resources.
  • Scenarios: Based on real life cities, you must build all the landmarks before the city collapses.

BalanCity will be released in August 2016 for Windows, Mac and Linux.

Mobile version will be released by the end of 2016, early 2017.

Love this game. It does not matter if you start the city the same way all the time, the game guides you (thru several events) to a path where you have to abandon your strategy and focus on the problems, trying to get everything working even when you can clearly see the end.

The best part is when you think everything is going to be ok, your citizens loves you, the city is growing up and suddenly ... Godzilla!!

A match of 10-15 minutes are good enough to enjoy the game and try new things. Super recommended!

I recently bought this game and play for a while. I found out that this game still got something that can be improve and some minor problem or maybe bug. first of all, i feel like the game should be forgiving . Example sometime when i use demolish , i will accidentally press on something i dont want to delete and this cause me problem, i hope that the game can inplement some undo feature. Even if undo feature cannot be implement atleast implement something like hold z-key and click to delete to better prevent accidental demolish. The second issue is that the police helicopter often cant work properly. For instance, when i press on the riot people the copter will just fly nearby the rioting people and do nothing. I also hope that those 3 helicopter got some queue action feature like when i press on multiple fire source , the firecopter will auto fly to each of the place i click following the sequence.(Btw those copter seems to delay a bit after i clicked). There some minor bug but it still ok. I also wondering if the guider said so: call the police tha handle the riot or full fill thier demand, is there anyway to listen to thier demand?
In a nut shell , it is a good game allowing people to kill some time or relax. Not recommend for perfectionist as they will try to arrange all those block perfectly like i do often keep delete and replace those block to look nice and tidy.

Great game to play offline while you have something downloading in the background, it needs a Campaing mode but surely it'll have it very soon. It can either be very easy or very hard, but after a while you while master the balance and achieve something you thought was impossible, you'll become a master of physics.

Disclosure: review copy received from the developer.

Recommended with some caveats; the game is unique, but rough, with some interface and design issues. If you like wacky games and don't mind some annoyances, this game might be for you.

This is a tablet game that has been ported to PC.

It unfortunatel plays that way. Emergency services have to be told where to go by clicking on the emergency, be it fire or someone being robbed for example.

Also, when I navigated back from the scenarios to the main menu, the game opened the facebook page of itself and I had to actively get rid of that. To me as a classic PC gamer (and, above all, in a PAID game), that is just not acceptable. Also, the guy giving hints and such was, even in free-play, very annoying.

All in all, I cannot recommend BalanCity for now. Later, maybe. We'll see how the development goes forward from here.

in English:
The idea of the game is very strange, but the game is easy to boring. Sometimes even some bug and some unusual things happen. For example, the turret of the monster monster hit too many monsters to die. No resident in the population was actually launched riots. The train will push the residents down, the fire is too large aircraft can not destroy the flame - and I suggest to add multiplayer mode.

Game is pretty entertaining and can occupy with silly fun for hours, its also very challenging when trying to build your metropoilis up in the sky and when you have to take care of your citizens from fires, robbers, monsters, and etc. It might look easy to balance out, but believe with so much trial error you learn for future cities on what to do and not to do. If you need something to occupy your mind or kill some time, I would highly reccommend the game, worth the money, and hope the dev adds more features and buildings into the game. I'd love to see a auto save feature because I have exited out of my cities by accident and lose the work I was on, but other than that game is pretty sweet!
