Cubistry Collection Volume 1 is a casual match 2 game which can be played local co-op or versus as well as single player mode. The collection itself is themes of the games, like there’s a cat’s theme, a candy theme, fruit theme etc.

Graphics:

The game features simplistic minimal graphics. The background is usually always black and you have these colorful cubes with the respective games’ themes pictures on it. I didn’t find any problems with the FPS on this game. It’s locked at 60 FPS and there were no drops. Not that graphics intensive of a game so you should be good even if you don’t have a fancy graphics card.

Sound:

There’s little music in the game. The music is nice to the ears, it’s not the best music out there but for a casual game it’ll do. The sound effects are also okay, not the greatest. Overall I’d say sound is the weakest part of the game.

Gameplay:

The gameplay is so simple that anyone can just pick the game and start playing. It’s a match 2 game similar to Mahjongg, except in this you can click the middle blocks to destroy them too. You have to pick 2 matching cubes and click them, that’ll make those 2 cubes disappear. The “collection” part of the game means the game has 9 different themes, the game is the same, just the cubes’ pictures theme would be different. The collection includes, cats, dogs, fruits, candy, poker(cards), zoo animals, flower, Egyptian hieroglyphics theme and the default Cubistry theme.

There are many types of modes, a regular puzzle mode where you have to destroy all the cubes in order to win. You can keep playing these modes to beat your previous scores. The faster you destroy cubes your multiplier will build and you’d eventually get more score. Another mode is the cube attack mode, where it starts off with 4 cubes and more and more cubes keep spawning at a regular interval. You have until a cube of 6 x 6 is made, after that it’s game over. Time attack mode, as the name implies you select a 1 minute, 5 minutes or 10 minutes round. There’s the Matches round which will last until you make a certain number of matches, say a hundred matches. Last but not the least there’s the stationary mode which is same as puzzle mode except you cannot rotate the cube at all. This game mode is the closest match to Mahjongg.

There’s leaderboards, versus mode and co-op mode so you can play with friends or compete with them. The game can take 2 mouse as input as well which is nice to see.

A short video of the Cube attack mode can be found below:

Overall score: 8/10

Conclusion:

It’s a fun casual game which can become addicted if you like these sort of games. It’s a fun time killer with lots of themes so you won’t get bored of looking at the same themed images again and again. The game is very relaxing. The sound can use an improvement but overall it’s a very good time killing game.
