In a time when videogames concentrate on just being adictive, eye candy or making profits, Undertale comes and makes us remember why we love videogames so much. I played this game the days after it was released by non "legal" methods, and holy gross, what can i say, i loved it.

The game itself its just a cute rpg like earthbound with a simple mechanic that let you spare your "enemies" instead of killing them, but it was so well executed in a way that complements the story perfectly. The music on the other hand is fantastic, i still hear it almost every day on my way to college or when i want to chill at home.

But clearly, the most important thing about this game is that it has a lot of heart in it and you can sense that from the very first minutes of the game, its not another game that you buy and leave it in your library forever (i know i have only 8 hours on it but trust me i played it a lot more outside of steam), its the kind of game that makes you convince your friends to play it because you need to talk about it, its the kind of game that makes you search for countless covers and animations on youtube. This game its the kind of game that makes you feel like a child again, getting carried away by the characters and the world in it, making you laugh or cry.

Undertale is my kind of game, and i hope and dream that more games like that will be created in the future.

Suprisingly, Undertale was made in GameMaker. Although I only know the basics of GameMaker it amazes me that this comedic and enjoyable game was capable of being created.

tl;dr - Undertale is a very nice small indie game that I recommend everyone should play at least once, through their own route

Ok, Undertale is now one year old. Definitely doesn't feel like it though. I'm not really one for reviews, but I feel like if I put some effort into making a nice review for Undertale explaining all its pros and cons, it would be 8 paragraphs. Besides, there are enough of those. So, I'll cover the main points-

Story
Undertale's story has a wonderful concept, but can be lacking in length. I highly recommend you do not spoil it for yourself if you do not know how the story goes. For most people, it's either you love the plot to death or think it's the epitome of mediocre. Personally, I love the story to death. Even though it may only span out to be 10-15 hours depending on your play style, I found the intro and plot twists very pleasing. The option to play the game in different routes is a great addition that the game cannot survive without. Pacifist ending would have to be my favorite, and if you ever play this game, I recommend you do the Pacifist run after playing it in your own style, though.

Soundtrack
Okay, the Undertale soundtrack is really good. 101 songs composed by Toby Fox that fit all the game's moods perfectly. The genres range from 16-bit nostalgic music to orchestrated masterpieces, so there should be one perfect song for everyone. Plus, the unused songs of Undertale were released two days ago (as of the 15th of September, 2016) (you can find them on Undertale's tumblr or on Youtube ). I have way too many favorite songs from the OST, but the one that takes the cake is 'Death by Glamour'.

Community
The Undertale community, in general, is good. The amount of amazing artwork created for the game by it's fans are truely brilliant, and many musicians have created some of the best game remixes I've heard. Most of the fans of the game, as far as I can see, are very friendly and have a genuine love for the game, as I do. The Undertale fandom on tumblr or on any other social media outlet isn't as edgy as it's made out to be. But, if you are looking for anything Undertale related created by fans, I wouldn't really recommend looking for it through Steam (some people do that?). The community page is just bad memes and stolen art. There are some original works on Steam, but there are plenty more original works on other sites.

Score
I don't want to rate Undertale a score out of 10, because if I did, it would be a very biased 10/10 . Tell you what, play it yourself, and give it an honest rating. As for me, I'll stick with my 10/10. I don't know why, but I just really like this game.

the plot and execution is what i love about this game
i felt like i was really interacting with the colourful cast of characters
the gameplay aspect was necessary
for the experience to be immersive
which makes undertale feel well-rounded

the bullethell/rpg mechanic was smart too
very refreshing

and the soundtrack is magical

I went into Undertale not expecting much, this game has been hyped to unbelievable heights... but it's the rare case where it actually lives up to its reputation.

It is:
-an excellent 16-bit style RPG
-a game with a great soundtrack
-a game with multiple ways to complete it that are fundamentally different from each other
-a game that messes with you, more so than any other game.

Play it.

Bonetrousle is my bread, Megalovania is my butter, and It's Raining Somewhere Else is as beautifull as freaking Gymnopedie no. 1.

undertale is a stuningt game with its gameplay and charaters i would recomend anyone i know to get it and play it after what ive eperinced playing the game for myself. all of the charaters are likeble and so insteating it has inspired me and many over game dev.
