About This Game

Recruit. Explore. Control.

Two years after Commander Shepard repelled invading Reapers bent on the destruction of organic life, a mysterious new enemy has emerged. On the fringes of known space, something is silently abducting entire human colonies. Now Shepard must work with Cerberus, a ruthless organization devoted to human survival at any cost, to stop the most terrifying threat mankind has ever faced.

To even attempt this perilous mission, Shepard must assemble the galaxy’s most elite team and command the most powerful ship ever built. Even then, they say it would be suicide. Commander Shepard intends to prove them wrong.

Just like in the previous game, what you say to the other characters matters a great deal. Fortunately, the conversation system has been improved. The camera now pans around characters as they talk to one another to evoke a dramatic, cinematic feel. Also, Shepard can interrupt the conversation when given the appropriate prompt, taking situations into new directions that could help or hinder the mission.

Shepard is more customizable than ever, letting you create your ideal lead character — gender, facial features, class, and of course, attitude. Once you embark on missions, you’ll be treated to an improved battle system that lets you target weak points and blast off your enemy’s limbs with a variety of weapons.

Set out to lead your team to victory… or die at the hands of The Collectors. Either path is possible in BioWare’s smash hit, Mass Effect 2. Which destiny will you choose?

Features:
  • The second act of BioWare’s epic sci-fi trilogy continues the story of Commander Shepard and humanity’s first steps onto the galactic stage
  • Success – or failure – depends heavily on the crew you assemble and their loyalty to you and the mission
  • Stunning graphics and a refined dialog system will draw you into the story like never before
  • Numerous improvements to the intense, third-person shooter combat
  • Deep character customization options let you create your own vision of Commander Shepard

Short preview:
  • (+) Enough good story. ✅
  • (+) Long game-time length. ✅
    • It was 68 hours for me, with all side-quests “assignments”, and DLCs
  • (+) Customizable dialogue. ✅
  • (+) Awesome end! If you’ve arranged the ‘No one left behind’ achievement. ✅
  • (+) Absolutely good voice acting by every single character! Yes, even the supporting characters too. ✅
  • (+) You can import your old ‘Mass Effect’ character with your old decisions what you made, and they impact to the ‘Mass Effect 2’ story line! ✅

  • (-) Sometimes, Sheppard’s head pointed to the ground. ✗
  • (-) Too complicated to get the DLCs from the Bioware website. ✗
  • (-) The Cerberus server bugged and you have to login almost every time.
  • (-) There’s not enough action, shooting. ✗ But, more than in ‘Mass Effect 1’ were.

Crashes / Bugs / Glitches:
In 68 hours game-play, I had three rare game crashes.
And Sheppard’s head sometimes pointed to the ground while moving forward. It was sadly strange, but it doesn’t prevent you to play.

My personal opinion:
First of all, if you haven’t played and completed yet the first past of the ‘Mass Effect’, then I strongly-strongly-strongly suggest you buy it and complete it! You would miss many funny and serious links in between the Mass Effect one and two if you didn’t do it!

The game improved much since the first part, and, of course, came a few new issues, but non of them serious.
→ Here is my ‘Mass Effect 1’ preview ← if you interested in it.
There aren’t repetitive side-quests, and it works well on ‘Windows 7’ and 10 64bit without hacking.

As it was in the first part of ‘Mass Effect’, at close to the end of the game, the story and the action dramatically blows up, and gives you an incredible interest! For me, the end cutscenes were better than a film!
Of course, it depends on your decisions, if you want see the same as I did, then google it the ‘No one left behind’ achievement for more information.

Recommendation:
I can recommend it to them who;
  • Liked and completed the first part of ‘Mass Effect’.
  • Like Sci-fi stories.
  • Like to talk with non human species.
  • Like to behave as you are. (Or at least similar what you are.)
  • Future atmosphere.

Achievement hunting:
There’s no Steam achievements, but there’s in-game achievements. So, your Average-Steam-Achievement-Rate won’t increase or decrease with this game.
It was a good news for me. ✅

If you haven't played Mass Effect 1 then stop reading this review AND GO PLAY THAT FIRST to have the best experience! Mass Effect 2 takes many of the rpg elements from Mass Effect 1 out but solidifies the gameplay more and trims out all the fat from the first game so you get nothing but pure meat. The exploration is gone but in return you get better dialouge and better combat. The characters are more diversed and flushed out and I thought they were better due to personalities and more backstory into them, I might be a little biased though since I found half of the crew from the first game especially the humans more annoying. If you are into sidequests over main missions then ME2 does a way better job than ME1 is that respect and the main quest is still really good but the side missions mostly involve loyalty missions to give your crew members more story and helping them out. Would I reccommend ME2 over ME1? No because I believe that you have to play all 3 games to get the full experience but IMO the gameplay is a lot better than ME2 but less tactical and more action. It still feels like a choose your own adventure game that the first one has but adds more spices to it. It's well worth a buy and you will love every minute of it. Ending mission is also one of the best end missions I have ever played.

Mass Effect 2 is an excellent follow up to Mass Effect, in almost every possible way.

The shooting mechanics have been completely overhauled, the villains are more interesting, the graphics are better, the biotic powers and the UI are more entertaining and easier to use, heck even the Normandy is cooler than before.

That's also the only problem with Mass Effect 2. BioWare retooled this game into much more of a third person shooter with RPG elements than the original, which was an RPG with third person shooter elements. You can no longer freely explore planet surfaces, but are forced into the invisible walled areas they've designed for the game. You also no longer control the equipment your party uses or their skills to as great of an extent as the first game.

Fortunately those limited areas have been crafted to produce some great experiences, like when you first get Jack.

The paragon/rogue system is also pretty much meaningless in this game. You have to intentionally be a jerk at every possible opportunity in order to not get paragon.

Even so, the game is still good fun with a great story and great voice acting, with characters you can care about. If you aren't already using it, please get the ALOT mod as it makes this an entirely different experience than playing it on console (even though it is just textures).

You won't know the true meaning of cinematic story telling unless you have played this game.

The setting, the art style, voice acting and the pace is just:

https://i.redd.it/vmaai3h6j8ix.png

There is an interactive galaxy map where you can fly your ship from planet to planet, or use mass relays and teleport from one point of the galaxy to another. Each planet that you land feels so different and alive. Gameplay is fun, fresh and exciting. They give you 6 classes to choose from that suits all type of gameplay.

I was so obsessed with preparing for the sucide mission that I had forgot to romance with anyone in this game. So no comment there.

A recap on Mass Effect 1: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U72od3l5Q3k

Sypnosis of Mass Effect 2: The game starts off with the Normandy being attacked by an unknown ship and Shepard being killed in action. He was later on brought back by Ceberus, lead by the Illusive Man, who assigned him on a mission to investigate why the humans colonies have been disappearing. After discovering that it was the Collectors who are behind these abductions, the same species that are responsible for the destruction of Normandy and Shepard's death, the commander must scout the galaxy and build the best team to take the fight to the Collectors.

Mass Effect 2 is by far one of the best story driven “RPGs” I have ever played in my life. I use RPG in quotes due to the fact that, well let’s face it Bioware
you have removed most of the features that makes
an RPG, just that. There are no weapon statistics
listed, character leveling is very simplistic, as well as
team mates. It feels there is a lot less here from Mass
Effect 1, but to be honest for the most part it's a good
thing.

ME2 has an excellent story, its tale of building the
best team in the known galaxy features intrigue, heart
break and a lot of pulse pounding action. The characters
are excellent and well developed and their “loyalty” quests are among the best the game has to offer.

The actual gameplay is a massive improvement over
ME1, the gunplay is tight and response. Biotics feel good
and team management is pretty good too. The AI feels
a bit less brainless than the first game, but that’s not the
biggest compliment I could give. The soundtrack is quite
enjoyable and brings you in, the voice actors are great.
The overall game is excellent, this is my 12th time playing
Mass Effect 2 and the only thing that leaves me sad is
that Bioware fakes choice almost as bad as Telltale. Its
the illusion of choice, of making the player FEEL he has
changed something when in reality it's just a different line
of dialogue that leads to the same conclusion.

Be warned everyone. The DLC for this game and how
it is acquired is scummy as ♥♥♥♥. The Deluxe edition that
steam and Origin sell is a farce. It does not include any of
the Character DLC (Zaeed, or Kasumi) or the quite enjoyable mission DLC’s “Overlord, Shadow Broker, or
Arrival” You will have to buy them purchasing the ♥♥♥♥♥♥
Bioware points, that EA and Bioware will make you over
buy to get the DLC you actually want. Oh and the best
part is. The DLC NEVER GOES ON SALE. EVER. Nor
will it ever. Bioware points are a set in stone forever. So
you will be paying a lot more for the DLC then you ever
will the core game. It’s an absolute trash can of a tactic
for Bioware's loyal fan base. But hey, whatever right?

Funny story also to be warned of, I originally years ago purchased the DLC for Kasumi, Shadow Broker,
Arrival and Overlord. That is what like 60 bucks? Probably. I think it might be more lol. Anyway, so all the
other DLC I had bought was still there, guess what. Those most expensive DLC that I had purchased, were
deleted off my Bioware social account. No idea what the
♥♥♥♥ happened. So I had to buy them again. That was fun. Oh and it looks like Zaeed’s DLC was pulled as well.

So thanks for making an amazing game Bioware, and
tainting it with a corrupt ♥♥♥♥♥♥ DLC practice that is designed to ♥♥♥♥ your fans over. I appreciate that.

Mass Effect 2 is a very easy recommend from me, the game itself is excellent, The DLC ♥♥♥♥ and Bioware points
are really ♥♥♥♥ed up though. Just be forewarned.

Kelly Chambers: “The moment I met you, I know I could close my eyes, fall back, and you would be there.”
Commander Shepard: “I might do more than just catch you, Kelly.”

10/10, Shepard is a pimp.

The best storyline in a game till date. One tends to bond with each character, and grow with them, and would hate to lose them. 10/10

This game is amazing, no doubt about that. HOWEVER, do not buy this on steam. If you want the complete package, you have to buy it off origin.

I really enjoyed everything about this game: the graphics, combat, storyline, characters, music, replayability factor, levelling, upgrading equipment, dialogue and voice acting. Near perfect.
The only thing I didn't enjoy is losing one of my favorite team-mates, Garrus, at the end but I guess a poignant ending is what makes a good game. Highly recommended.

Digital Deluxe Edition does NOT contain all dlc.
Don't buy it on Steam, go to Origin instead. (Never thought I would say that)

To me ME3 has the best content on the trilogy, but ME2 have the best story, any actions you choose to take or not to take will affect the last mission (no spoilers on what it is (unless you watch the trailer and read the description))

THIS. Are you RPG fan? Are you interested in sci-fi (if not, nevermind, I was more like fantasy fan, but this will gets you)? Well, my friend, you just found your treasure! In a few points (cuz nobody likes a long posts):

Pro:
- The story; The main story has about 12 hours cca, but there are so many side quests with interesting side stories including clubs, girls, guns and money. More less.
- Using save from Mass Effect I; You can just transfer you decisions to MS II story and continue your journey through the galaxies... which is nice
- Nostalgia; yeah, try to play MS I and MS II in a row! Pure awesomenees. Romantic.
- Your crew; your crew is created from very unique individuals with their own history and abilities
- Exploring the universe
- Paragon/Renegate system
- Dialogues choices
- Simpliest interface (for me)
- Great cinematics
- Loading is far more faster than in Mass Effect I (including elevators)
- During the sales very cheap
- ...and a lot of more

Cons:
- Combat; hiding behind the obstacles is a bit annoying
- Aiming (sniper) is also a bit mess (for me), but not that bad
- ... I can't tell you more cons

Last words. Sales = buy it. Not sales = work to buy it, or wait very patiently!
