Everyone needs to try this game. This game has everything and comes from a complete different angle than any other game before it. Yes the game is old, and yes it doesn't look as nice as some of the other games but try to look past that. The game play for this game is awesome and players really have to hone their skills if they want to stay on top. This game also has a very nice casual aspect of it which allows for tones of player to player communication and socialization. This game also has an interesting team aspect that allows for players to really work together in order to achieve victory. There are also tournaments hosted weekly by Pro@ which allow for people to show off their skills and also learn from other great players.
I highly recommend this game and I hope that if you are reading this you buy the game or at least ask question.

It's everything we love about Star Wars

I consider Jedi Outcast one of the best narrative Star Wars games ever. It's a simple and straightforward story, driven by the most classic of action hero motivations: revenge. It's a fine line to walk for our Jedi protagonist, Kyle Katarn. But he's no Luke Skywalker. From blasters, grenades, mines and more, no weapon goes left unused by Katarn in his quest for answers. And yes, that includes lightsabers.

In fact, the Jedi Knight series still possesses the best lightsaber combat to date. Every swing, every thrust has the potential to be deadly, whether it's your lightsaber or your enemy's. No florescent batons here: swings cut through enemies neatly and quickly, as they should. Enable the dismemberment option for increased pandemonium.

The greatest con might be the series' age. The visuals definitely diminished with time. But see if that still matters when the game hands you a lightsaber, a room full of Storm Troopers, and John William's score begins swelling.

Oh, and did I mention they got Billy Dee Williams back to voice Lando? Because they got Billy Dee back to voice Lando. Awesome.

Despite a slow start, it's a HUGELY underrated game that stands with the likes of KotOR and Battlefront, and has the best melee combat of any video game I have played.

First time ever playing this game, and oh boy, wasn't a thrilling ride.

Story wise, its fine. Its Star Wars. A fallen Jedi wants to rule the universe, and you have to stop him. What more do you need or want.

What I wanted though is either the reason modern games are better, or maybe dumbed down. Directions was what I wanted. Many, MANY times I got lost. Backtracking trying to find where to go. Then you'd really search round a room and find that vent which blends into the background. A few times, had to use YouTube just to figure out where to go, which isn't a great selling point. Suppose that was what made some old games great?

The fighting with lightsabers is much improved in Jedi Academy I feel. Although both games do lack in feedback, to know if you're dealing any damage. Some fights I'd have 100 health, and swing about, jumping, trying to land shots then out of no where, two swings from the bad guy and death. And this was me playing on Easy mode to begin with (yes I'm rubbish at gaming, who cares?). Other times though, swing and he staggers, a jump on his head and he falls over dead. Very inconsistent I found. The gun play is alright. You realise why Stormtroopes can't shoot when the guns themselves have terrible aim.

For a 2002 game, it holds up not too bad. If you're a Star Wars fan, then you might get some enjoyment out of it. If you're a person who wants to wave lightsabers about in epic badassery... I just don't think this game covers it, sorry.

For level design, be prepared to be a little frustrated if you've never played before. If you've played it back in the past, and wanting to pick it up again, just ask yourself as you're playing "How do the troops actually get into this room?", because many times the room they're in will have no doors, no ladders and be suspended over bottomless pits. You're able to sneak in through a vent or something, but is that the route Mr Stormtrooper or Imperial Guard has to go to get to work??

I'm only not recommending this game, because I personnaly found it frustrating. If Steam had a "maybe" option, I'd choose that instead.

best fencing simulator by far, look no further.
if you can find a server, this is the game for pure skill-based 1on1 sword fighting.

jedi academy made it ♥♥♥♥ with the combos, also the movement is off. blade symphony "borrowed" the stance system from this game, but made a bad mix of combos and combinations that are counterintuitive. also better than lugaru or rune.
sword battles are fluent and intuitive... the 6 or 7 combos it has are fast animated so they don't break immersion.
never played something similar when it comes to duelling with swords.

STAR WARS Jedi Knight II - Jedi Outcast is a sequel of a sequel, branching out from the Dark Forces games still staring the protagonist Kyle Katarn who at this point in the series has given up his Jedi powers and has taken up the job of mercenary work, only to be forced to become a Jedi again after losing someone dear to him. Essentially its the same game from the Gamecube version, other than a new start up screen, a console replacing the Cheats menu, and seperate game launchers for Single Player, and Multiplayer. I would recommend this game if you like a challenge.
