Surprisingly tense and exciting, with elements of horror due to the traps and dangers that can happen and the fear of the unknown. Very much in the vein of the film 'Cube'.

Behind the Tron style aesthetics is a rather simple game. One where you have a semi-random maze presented to you (with the player or host for multiplayer games choosing parameters for that) and your role is to move through room by room in the grid to find the exit. Each room can potentially be safe, the exit you are seeking or trapped. You can use observation, sheer luck and your most precious of tools - your shoes - to try and make it. By throwing a shoe into a room you can try to trigger traps and then react in a timely fashion to whatever happens - move in if nothing seems to be triggered or run away fast if a trap appears. Sometimes traps are more easily avoidable if you are fast enough, leading to Indiana Jones style moments where you rush past an incroaching laser cutter and grab your shoe on the way through the door.

The game is incredibly cheap and so the bar is set lower, of course. Even then this is a game that is very fun if you have strong nerves to handle it in single player and more fun still for a group to join in. The simple mechanics of it will make it easier to get a group together, as will the variable form of the mazes from very small and easy to large and deadly (as well as the option of the maze being different shapes and the layout of the exit and features being in certain patterns or random). Remember, more shoes is always better if you want to survive. As are expendible comrades you can send into a room first once the shoes run out. You can always draw straws for who gets to go first...

The controls are very simple and use standard FPS set ups (barring the shoe throwing key which only has a close comrade in the Stalker games where you throw bolts to try to trigger anomalies, its traps). Keyboard and mouse or a controller is optional.

A no-regret buy for the majority.

This game made me realise how fickle life is. One moment you merrily run around with your friends and then reality punch you in the face with a sweet roundhouse kick and your lifeless body either gets impaled and eviscerated on hundreds of spikes or burnt to a crisp in lava.

But did I learn anything from my experience? Yes, yes I did not. You've got to have one foot out the door or one shoe inside the room. It all ends the same - you either die or you dance, b*tch.

I wish it had more content. Maybe not just a 2 dimensional map but like in the movie where it is an actual cube and not a rectangel.

tl;dr - fun single-player, a LOT of fun when playing with friends and family. The game costs next to nothing, and offers more entertainment than some current $60 titles. Kudos to the devs for creating this enjoyable masterpiece. :)

Overall great game for the price, I recommend this to anyone with spare change in their steam wallet.
