God, this game is...omg <3
Max Payne 2, one of the best childhood game ever.
If I remember corectly, I finished this game cracked more than 10 times and now on Steam version 5 times and I still love this and don't get bored from it.
The Steam version is good, no bugs no nothing, it's perfect.
I played MP 3 too but, still MP 2 is the soul of my heart. xDD
I'll recommend it.
10/10

Well, i consider that game a masterpiece, but let's see why:
When i was 10 i started playing that game with my father, and since that time, i literally loved that game.
What makes that game so good? Probably the musics, the voice acting, or maybe the hundreds of mods done in order to create an absurd replayability...
From my point of view, i don't really like games were Mafia or criminality in general is involved, just because i found this argoument not as exiciting as many others.
Max payne 2 seems to be a totally different thing: there is criminality, even mafia, but everything seems a bit more... delicated, don't really know how to explain that.
The story seems quite realistic to me and, more important, it is so damn beautyful:
Every single thing is well explained by the playtrought or by the illustrations before every level, and that makes everything more interesting.
The only bad thing about that game may be the fact that has a really good story with a really short gameplay (13 hours max), but people like me could continue replaying that until even 100 hours.
Worth it.

Ladies and gentlemen, allow me to present Max Payne. New York's Finest, with the biggest mobster bodycount ever. Dearest guests, prepare to die … [Assorted gunfire] Max, I'd love to come and welcome you, but I'm busy dodging bullets and hiding under a desk at the moment.

The past is a gaping hole. You try to run from it, but the more you run, the deeper, more terrible it grows behind you, its edges yawning at your heels. Your only chance is to turn around and face it. But it's like looking down into the grave of your love, or kissing the mouth of a gun, a bullet trembling in its dark nest, ready to blow your head off.

The explosion in my apartment had started a fire. The flames couldn't burn away my past. They only made the shadows behind me leap higher.

Fantastic game! I absolutely adore the love story of this game, it worked so nicely and it was... a masterpiece. This game was fantastic and improved on Max Payne 1 in ABSOLUTELY every way! While it was shorter than Max Payne 1, clocking in at around 6 hours, (while MP1 was around 10 hours) I still thoroughly loved my experience and finished it in 1 day. Gunplay is very fun, and the story goes really really deep, but not as "Illuminati" deep as Max Payne 1. Graphics have aged very well, the soundtrack was good for the most part, and it was QUITE the experience, I can tell you that! A blast to play through, and a solid run for your money. Get it! Absolutely, POSITIVELY, yes! It is a recommendation!

"The things that I want", by Max Payne. A smoke. A whiskey. For the sun to shine. I want to sleep to forget. To change the past. My wife and baby girl back. Unlimited ammo and a license to kill. Right then, more than anything, I wanted her.

If you liked the first one, you'll like the second one. It is shorter though. Would still recommend.

A short sequel with a similar cool gameplay, but, of course, adding some slight improvements (like physics) and better graphics. Everything that wasn't completely awesome in the first game, they added it to this sequel. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=772729434 http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=769720749

If you like the first Max Payne, you'll love this one. It similar, but improved in every aspect and I had a generally better time playing this than the first.

However, it's significantly shorter. My playthrough of this took about 6 hours, 3 hours less than Max Payne 1.

If you want to fix this for windows 7 then start it and open task manager and set the affinity on MaxPayne2.exe to 1 cpu. Then go to the folder for the game and right click for properties on MaxPayne2.exe and set compatability to Windows98/ME. This should fix the problem.

On to my review, I played this when I was 3 on the PS2 and now that it is on PC with much better graphics I can only like this game more. From the soundtrack to the story to the gameplay this game is the full package. And max doesn't look like a 40 yr old man in Hawaii in this game.
*cough* Max Payne 3 *cough*

Bigger, better, deeper and darker than it's original, another incredible title by the people of remedy (and 3d realms and rockstar, but mostly remedy, since the script is by sam lake, you know, the max from max payne 1!). Excellent port too, and if you're like me and love 3D (nvidia 3d vision), this one works like a charm, just like the 1st one!
