About Me

I am a graduate student in the computer sciences department at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. My primary focus of study is on systems software. However, I find the dark side (aka. computer architecture) to be quite alluring as well. I received my Master's degree in the Spring of 2001 and am currently doing my best to avoid the real world by teaching CS 537 - Introduction to Operating Systems.

If your interested in where I come from (and it's really not that interesting) and the things I enjoy doing, read on. I grew up in the small town of Columbus, WI. The population of this Mayberryish town is about 4000 (I told you it wasn't that interesting). In all honesty, I didn't even grow up there but was raised 7 miles outside of Columbus - surrounded by corn, forests, and streams. I was born in 1973 and apparantly the event was a huge success because my parents went on to have three more children - all boys. Of course, this type of logic doesn't bode well for my youngest brother (14 years younger) but then again it makes for a lot of good ribbing around the holidays.

As odd as it may seem, I also have some interests outside of computers. These mostly include fishing, snowboarding, camping, and listening to live music. It's also a lot of fun to buy gear for the first three activities on this list; however, I find the student lifestyle doesn't allow me to persue this last activity with a lot of vigor. Below you will find a few of my favorite links to these activities as well as a few computer sites.
