As for Mrs. Gagarin, she had gone to the market to buy some meat, and would not be home for five hours. H. In the long run, the cutback in producer industry goals is also bound to have its effect on consumer industry, as it provides fewer of the materials and means for turning out what the consumer wants. VI. In summary, then, the Soviet Union proposes that its military and space expenditures--already the highest in post-war history--are to be boosted sharply in 1968. A. This is being accomplished, however, at the expense of future growth of the economy. 1. Modernization of the Soviet industrial plant will have to slow down.
